For the first time in maybe over a month, Cindy and I were actually home on a weekend and as luck would have it, we got a call from our good friend Adam asking if we wanted to do some wheeling. Of course, being that we just installed a brand new Rancho 2" Sport Lift on JET Li, our 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited, we were eager to get it out and test it on the trail and having a friend along would make it that much easier. Needless to say, the following pics are from the run we did up the Deer Valley Trail. I apologize in advance for not having as many pics as I'd prefer but we spent most of our time filming this trip.
Here are a few shots at the start of the trail, down in the Hermit Valley. As you can see, it's low range work right from the get go.
Taking on a tight squeeze around a tree.
Did I mention that the trail was kinda dusty?
Yea, some bigger rocks to play on!
I think this just might be the very first time I've seen Adam with WORKING front and rear lockers - LOL!
Wheeling between the trees.
Climbing to the high point of the trail.
Working our way down into the valley.
Along the way, we came across a tree with the most alien looking fungus growing on it.
Bright yellow with red highlights, this fugus was rubbery to the touch and was oozing water or some kind of liquid.
Being in a 2-door and with the right breakover angles, Adam decided to take on this obstacle and almost had it.
Unfortunately, one of the smaller rocks at the base kicked out and wedged itself between the rear tire and frame. Fortunately, this gave him a chance to do a little winch testing.
On the move again.
Taking a moment to do a little stretching.
Further along the trail, we came across an old CJ who was in a jam and so we got to do a little winch testing too.
Ahhh, time to cool our feet!
So nice to be in the middle of springtime in the mountains.
And more water to play in
Pulling into our lunch stop for the day.
Of course, Tessa wasn't gonna miss out on a chance to go for a swim.
The final leg of our trip is a gorgeous one.
Ending a perfect day out on the trail and with good friends over at the Kirkwood Inn & Saloon - CHEERS!
A BIG THANKS needs to go out to Adam and Tina for getting Cindy and I out on the trail and to cover us as we tested out our new Rancho 2" Sport Lift. For those of you who are wondering, the kit performed great and I still can't believe that it only costs $640! As I had eluded to, we do have a video in the works and we do hope to get it out sooner than later.
