I am a lifelong offroader-overlander First (1968-1972) was a 1946 CJ2A with an enclosed hard top. It was pink and was a mountain goat. Next (1972-1997) was a 1969 Ford Bronco. I lived in Montrose, CO, and did most of the classic mountain passes including Black Bear, which my wife walked down. I had to wipe away a tear when I sold it and took the key off my keyring after 25 years. Also did many trips to Canyonlands county and explored when Moab was not so big. Next (1983-1998) I bought a 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser, first trip was Highway-1/101 from San Diego to Port Angeles. We were early overlanders. Next (1994-2002) a Ford Explorer, not great off-road but great for Overlanding, took two extended trips from Albuquerque to Canada and Alaska. In 2004 had an FJ40 for a short while, but too much work and I really did not like it. Also had several 4WD trucks for camping and hauling motorcycles. The next real off-road capable vehicle is the 2018 JLUR 2.0L I own today. My wife now has a 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Offroad, it is much more comfortable for her. As you can tell I am not loyal to one brand, My current stable is the 2018 Jeep JLUR 2.0, 2022 Toyota Runner, 2009 GMC 1500 FWD (for real work), 2013 GMC Duramax for RV trailers and for moving construction trailers.

Cool line of various 4X4's. I too started years ago in the 1970's. First 4X4 was a 1971 Chevy K5 Blazer. Really, really wish I still owned it.
Welcome.
P.S. The iconic Colorado trails were WAY less active back then and Black Bear seemed narrower in places than today. Maybe that's just me and fading memories...
