Need vs. Want - Talk me out of UD 44/60 for new JT

Slick. I just put a set of their 5.13s in the 392. But yeah, I've been looking at knuckles, RCVs, etc. I get what folks mean when they say you can just buy a new axle setup for these prices. Also, I forgot Dynatrac offers the 44/60 setup with ARB lockers, but no full float 60 in that kit...

Need vs. Want - Talk me out of UD 44/60 for new JT

Got it! Just checked out your c-clip vs full circle clip post from 2012. I think wheeling, breaking, and fixing as I go might be the move here. Interesting that there aren't any chromoly full clip u joints. You'd think with how long this platform has been out there surely something would have...

Need vs. Want - Talk me out of UD 44/60 for new JT

Tropic Thunder taught me to never go full retard. Honestly my buddy with a triple locked 80 series and 37s rolling over all the fun stuff made me jealous this weekend. But, I am very impressed with all the travel I have without worrying about ripping fenders off or getting sketchy with caster...

Need vs. Want - Talk me out of UD 44/60 for new JT

Hey, guys! After building my 60/60 JT (see my other thread), my friends leaned on me to start adventuring with them, and unfortunately I didn't want to make the 392 or my 2 door rubi 'overland' rigs, so I sold the 2 door and snagged another JT. 2.5" game changer, Dobinson MRR shocks (this is...

4WD High/Low: Hubs unlocked, lockers engaged. Damage?

Wait, you don't pay people to lay on your hood and engage the hubs while driving?

4WD High/Low: Hubs unlocked, lockers engaged. Damage?

That's what I was hoping to hear. I just wasn't sure if there might be a power bias since nothing is being engaged up front and it's all sent to the rear wheels. Kind of like when trucks or cars are airborne and the engines are still being revved out, but there isn't any resistance

4WD High/Low: Hubs unlocked, lockers engaged. Damage?

Did some digging (that has to be a good 2wd "I sunk the rear of the jeep" pun), but I haven't found great answers on lockers being used in 2WD. For example, I was testing out my new axles in the pasture this evening and I switched to 4 high, then to 4 low, then engaged the lockers to make sure...

Dynatrac 60/60 for JT - Which Gear Oil?

Needs an alignment! Things I feel I should note that we ran into... 1. The lower brackets for the coilovers were made for a factory axle. We had to cut some material out and then we welded the brackets to the tube for some added strength. 2. As mentioned above, a standard shock/spring setup...

Dynatrac 60/60 for JT - Which Gear Oil?

Coming together. Getting everything mocked up for now. Will make final adjustments/installations soon. Driveshafts ordered (went with 1 piece for now for the sake of getting it moving, will be getting 2 piece in the future). Metal cloak control arms - we're at the end of our adjustability...

Dynatrac 60/60 for JT - Which Gear Oil?

I came up with this whole idea July 16th, bought the Jeep July 17th, ordered full suspension, axles, wheels, etc. the 19th. Parts have been trickling in since then. Everything is here and ready to be installed. My local shop that's doing the install ordered the axles from a local distributor...

Dynatrac 60/60 for JT - Which Gear Oil?

Perks of having a mostly stock JL. I had a feeling that whatever issues I may run into, I can always put parts on my other jeep. But good deal. Axles are at a local shop right now, but I'm going to swing by there tomorrow and make sure I have everything I need. 1550 knuckles and steering kit...

Dynatrac 60/60 for JT - Which Gear Oil?

I gotcha. I'm assuming you're talking about overall diameter on the drag link being 2"? Looks like the HD steer kit diameter runs 1.5". I think this is my concern/resolution right here. No PSC for now, so I may use that extended bolt for the ram mounts and use that skid plate. I was not aware...

Dynatrac 60/60 for JT - Which Gear Oil?

Sorry, fellas, but I'm going to take this thread off the rails... Steering stabilizer mounts on this axle... I've seen some people having interference with aftermarket drag links on their dynatracs and whatever stabilizer stud/mount they use. However, these builds seem to be the ProRock 44...

Dynatrac 60/60 for JT - Which Gear Oil?

Then that's what I'll do! Thanks again, guys. Edit: Man, gone are the days of website surfing for those specific parts/pieces. Amazon really does have everything. I'll have to order a warm January. Probably backordered, though.

Dynatrac 60/60 for JT - Which Gear Oil?

Good deal. Thanks guys. What brands are you running? Seems like the 75/85W-140 stuff I can find is all synthetic. Might run that for the rest of summer/fall, then switch to 80W-90 as needed.

Dynatrac 60/60 for JT - Which Gear Oil?

Hey, guys. After a few gladiators these past few years, finally pulled the trigger on some dynatrac axles. 40" tires. 5.38. Since finding the dynatrac blog post on how to fill the axles and looking up what I can on this forum, it seems non-synthetic is the preferred route for those ARB...
