    I understand the purpose but why would anyone want to install a product that requires cutting the mounting points to adjust caster? Why do mfg's think this is a good idea?

    Yes there are safer methods out there but if done correctly it can still be done safely. Jerking, yanking, snatching, etc is a good way to do it wrong unless the equipment you are using is designed for that. I wouldn't be yanking on a j-hook, soft shackle, or any type of cable. Slow and smooth...

    Not sure how you could attach to a car frame with a soft shackle. The J-hook just gives you a way to create an attachment point for a tow strap or winch if you can't attach the hook anywhere. Tow truck drivers use them all of the time.

    For sake of attempting to recover a non jeep or 4x4 with recover points I also carry a J-hook. It allows you to create a tow point using most holes in the frame or unibody. I was going to get an RTJ cluster but was told by the guy I bought it from that the J-hook would work in 90% of situations...
