Mine does the exact same thing, after regear and bigger tires. AEV has the speedometer spot on. And, as previously stated, just let off the throttle slightly or just go to manual mode.

Take a look at Carbon Off Road. They use Currie housings, with their own internals. They have an incredible warranty. I broke a shaft and they overnighted a replacement, no questions asked.
