Cordless Impact Gun?

I added the dewalt dcf899 to my kit 2 years ago. It’s pretty beast. Setting 2 puts my lugs right about 100ft lbs. Milwaukee just released the 2767 which claims 1400ftlbs breaking torque.

IMO, It’s a toss up between dewalt 20v/60v and Milwaukee 18v line. Milwaukee has a damn good 12v line.

DeWalt is made in USA.

I've been a DeWalt fan for years. Just upgraded all my other cordless stuff to their 20V line awhile back. Good to hear their impact is good too. 👍

I've never bought anything cordless from HF, but I do have their $50 corded impact that has been working great. I bought it when I replaced my pinion seal this past summer and it pulled that pinion nut right off with no problem.

Good to hear. Truthfully, in the past I've had horrible luck with HF electric items and cheaper air tools. I hope this cordless one holds up to the online reviews. The reviews were what led me to buy it. I did a tire rotation today and the torque WAY exceeded my Ryobi one. I'll be regearing the JK soon and will be reporting back on this thread. I hope it works because I'm dreading torquing the pinion nut by hand in the driveway.

Getting the crush sleeve to start to crush is a real pain. I think I had about a 4 foot cheater pipe on mine. I know lots of people crush them with an impact, but I was paranoid so I opted for doing it by hand.

Oh yes. I've done plenty, but this will be my first time on a garage floor (that's what she said). I'm going to have a couple of extra sleeves on hand, crush with an impact while watching the socket, then stop and recheck preload continually. If I have to do it by hand, I'll jamb the yoke holder into the concrete and use my jack handle on the breaker bar to turn the pinion and then recheck. We shall see....

Just a follow up. The Harbor Freight Earthquake impact was a huge help during the regear. It easily crushed the sleeve on both axles. Once the bearing play was gone, I just paid attention to the marks on the socket and used the impact to move the mark about 1/16" at a time and then rechecked the bearing preload measurement. This tool was awesome. I also used it to spin the arbor on the carrier bearing puller which is a 36mm nut. Again, it did great. Really happy with this tool.

Glad it’s working out for you! I gotta say I was not expecting it to last this long under normal to heavy use. Thanks for checking back in.
