Older thread I know but it reminded me of the time a friend and I were out training field trial dogs here in the high desert and I got too interested in the dogs, not watching my path and stepped on a Mojave green rattler. Luckily I wasn't bitten. We have a few variety's of snakes here in the Temescal Valley including rattlers.
I have not seen one but my neighbor came out one day and a smaller one was on his front porch.

This guy cut his tail and then some removed by the mower. He was in the tall grass and didn’t come out. I didn’t think he would make it so I put him out.
