Yes very confusing. Permatex blue is in a blue bottle. Also having worked on mountain bikes blue does have its place. But on a jeep red is the go to. Also I think I learned as a kid that red was "permanent" and should only be used in certain applications.

Come to think of it, I've only seen blue on my MTBs as well. Now that I think about it, that further implies that on a vehicle I'd go red all the way.

I only use red Loctite. I’ve never had a problem getting it off. I’ve had to use a torch a few times for just a second but always came free with a little persuasion.

If they think red is bad they should try the yellow stuff GM puts on caliper bolts. For a really good time try getting the rear calipers off of a late model Tahoe. You can’t get an impact on them. Super fun!
