Please READ THE RETURN POLICY Before Placing Your Order

Play his game. Take a pic of a old beat one in a box. Tell Amex this is what he sent.
screw him.
Believe me, as soon as he said he took this up with AMEX, this in spite of me saying that I would give him a refund so long as what I got was still in new and unused condition... the game was on! Hell, I don't even have the CB BAR back and he filed a claim. Fortunately, I'm working with Square now and they've been a LOT nicer to work with. They at least gave me an opportunity to make my case (unlike PayPal) and after reviewing all the evidence, said they'll go to bat for me. No guarantee what AMEX will decide to do but at least Square is trying on my behalf.

Amex usually sides with the customer, not the merchant.
good luck.

Yup, I know it may be a lost cause but at least Square felt that I had enough of a case to bring it to them. Paypal would have never give me a chance.
Could be a win win if they do side with you. You can sell the CB bar twice...haha. Either way sounds like a headache. Hope it works out for you.

I don't know what all would be involved in making it happen, but maybe add a check box that they have to check off that they have read and agree with return policy. Make it so it gets logged with the order. Then on the back end they don't have any wiggle room.

Won't change your headaches, because most people just check it off and keep going.

I already have it. Didn't seem to matter to this guy.

Again, I can't make people read our terms and conditions/return policy but we do encourage customers to read it before placing an order.

Sorry, I haven't purchased anything from you, yet. Didn't know that existed.

So technically, the guy has no legs with Amex. Doesn't mean they won't back him up. Amex is a pain to deal with and unscrupulous, we dropped them years ago after they dicked us over.

It's all good. You can do everything in the world to try and protect yourself but in the end, people suck and they'll always look for a way to screw you.

Personally I never really return anything. If something I buy doesn't work out, I blame myself first for not taking proper measurements or something like that before I bought something, especially when it comes to my Jeeps. I'll usually try to hook my buddy up with something that doesn't work for me, rather than blame the manufacturer who I most likely support since I purchased from them. Best of luck to you Eddie, I have seen more and more merchants moving to square 👍

I usually don't return things but have returned more goods since January than the rest of my life combined. Summit Racing and O'Reilly's didn't seem to mind much though, maybe because I've spent $12K+ at Summit and a few thousand at O'Reilly in the past few months.

Okay, for those of you who were interested, I just got the CB BAR back and this is what the package looked like.

Pretty beat up but so long as everything inside was packaged well, I would image that would be fine. Unfortunately, this is what came out of the box. Nothing was wrapped well and all the hardware was just floating around.

Here's a close up of the brackets all beat up and scratched.

And here are shots of the CB BAR itself - you can clearly see it was not only installed but also, for some reason, the brackets were rotated around scratching up the finish.

All along the bar, there were other blemishes as well due to poor packaging.

This is this guy's idea of "new condition" and "never been installed".
