Gobi JTR Overland Build start/progress

Now this is one badass looking rig. Saw that color on an overland yesterday and I have to say it is gorgeous. Subscribed to this thread for sure...

Looking awesome!

How much room do you have in the tent?

I'll report back after a couple trips this year. Had a JKUR that we slept inside before and unloading/reloading got very old fast on 3 day plus trips.

Initial thoughts - Plenty of room with a nice mattress. Also purchased a Teton double sleeping bag for the new RTT. The Annex is very nice and will take 2+ trips to figure out our configuration.

Anymore questions, please fell free to ask.

Thx

Took a lot of patience waiting for the Gobi production to start. Well worth the wait. Didn't want a white Jeep again.

Thanks! Good to know that a regular mattress can fit in there. I have a JKUR and I always tent camp. It would be nice to have a more stable structure. These Gladiators have me thinking about a potential change...

Does the vertical portion of the tent (annex? foyer?) have a floor? Or is that the purpose of the blue tarp you laid down? Do you think it would contain a dog overnight while you slept up top?

yes it has a black pvc (heavy duty) floor that can be unzipped. I was just keeping it clean with the blue tarp to figure out how I was going to pack it.

Very happy with our decision to purchase a ROAM Adventure tent. Now to test it! I'll post some more pictures of the tent/annex soon.

Been a while, I'll add a couple updates.

Working towards faster setup & take down brings a change next month.

Rack & RTT will be sold next month. ROAM adventure tent has been fabulous.

We are upgrading to a Alu-Cab canopy camper.

There is more to list, but it's just minor things.

Safe travels, until next time.
