Getting super close to firing this Jeep up. So many changes from the initial build idea. I’ll put together a comprehensive build post once it’s all done.

Springs were out boarded 1.5” to clear the axles. Skid plate is UHMV composite that a lot of the buggy guys use. It bends before it breaks but at 1” thick is super strong.
One ton tie rod ends round out the steering. The tires are 35’s. May go to hydro assist when I step up to 37’s.

It’s really interesting seeing the different approaches between the different Jeep models to get the most out of them. Can’t wait to see what can do

Thanks everyone. The build has gone lots of ways. From spring over to reverse shackles. In the end the spring under design will be stable as hell and the flat fenders will allow for up t a 37” tire while keeping the Jeep relatively low. With only a 3” suspension lift and 1” body lift.

After a bunch of research, I’ve gone for a shackle reversal on my scrambler build. It’ll be interesting to see how she climbs and handles.

Yeah we really considered it. Coming from a 2013 Rubicon to an 88 with leafs the idea of better ride quality was tempting. The wheelbase of the scrambler is awesome. We stretched the YJ 4” from stock for a bit more goodness.

A lot of progress going down on the YJ project. Finally back in CT. The motor is mounted. Frame and body are rust free. Only left to do is literally everything else. Axles need to be centered, pinion angle set and perches welded in. I’ve got to build the steering, install fuel and brake lines, all the wiring and figure out where to put the gas can.

I love the looks of Jeeps with out the roll bar! To bad it’s not practical to keep them that way!

Your Jeep looks great! Slot of progress!
