Would you like to add a tip?

They all do. Servers watch that crap like a hawk. They keep track of their receipts throughout the night.
That makes sense for individuals. 👍 I wonder about these places where the tips are “pooled” and the person providing service never sees the charges. Hopefully people still have integrity.

It you are taking your customer to a Michelin starred restaurant in order to impress him (in order to get business) and the service is horrible, then you have indeed been harmed. There is a certain expectation of service level associated with any type of establishment.
Sorry, but that is asinine. If I was considering becoming your client and you uttered something even close to that, I’d be out the door. And if you tried to hire me as your attorney to sue for your fictitious “damages”, I’d quickly show you my own door.

There are a couple of things I'll add to this seeing as I work in Fintech. When a merchant signs up with their processor they are asked if they are going to add tips. If they choose the tip feature it is programed into their terminal. The owner of the account can choose to give it as an option.

That said I always leave a tip simply because I chose to eat there. You never know what struggles the person waiting on you may be going through and the cost of living isn't getting any cheaper. If I couldn't afford to do it I'd just stay home.
