Wheel spacer needed for wheel strength?

I was turned on that I may need wheel spacers so my wheels aren't resting completely on each of the 8 lug bolts.... Is this true? Or hogwash?

Not true. Some wheels are hub-centric and some are not. I'm running Chamber Pros and they are not hub-centric. I was running hub-centric spacers for a while but don't anymore. I've got 50k miles and three cross country trips on them with no issues, and I'm on only 5 lugs.

You’re more likely to break studs if a lug comes loose if not hubcentric but on an 8 lug it won’t make much of a difference
