using d30 for a Tacoma?

I know its not a yota forum but I was wondering if I can use my d30 to covert my dads Tacoma into a 4 wheel drive? Just wondering if its possible thanks

I believe the front pumpkin on the Tacoma axles or any Toyota axle for that matter is centered where as your front Dana 30 is not...

I am pretty sure you can make it work. They don't come with a soild axle so of course it's going to be in the middle. Just look up soild axle swaps in his year an you'll find info. But if its a newer one I wouldn't put it in. They weigh to much.

My dads is an 08 with no warranty so I was thinking of putting my axles under there since I like soils axles more that the independent suspension they have

It would be a lot of work. Look up trail gear as they specialize in yotas from what I have read online. :crazyeyes:

There are a lot of different ways to swap a solid axle onto just about anything. I see them all the time around here on Toyota 4 runners and pickups. Probably the one "gotcha" I can think of is making sure the pumpkin on the axle is on the same side as the front output on the transfer case. That can be fixed by changing one or the other though.

Advance Adapters has a lot of good stuff for connecting Engine "A" to Transmission "B" to Transfer Case "C".

Look into new Jeeps, old Jeeps, different types of Jeeps, International Scout, Early Broncos. All of which had a fairly close track width but the pumpkins were on different sides.

No matter which way you look at it, you are going to be doing a good bit of fabrication. How far you go with it really depends on how much you want to spend, and how much you are going to fabricate vs paying someone to do it. With enough money, you can take it to EVO and have them do it. :)

Good luck and let me know if you move forward!
