Tire Replacement Warranty Yes or No?

I just made the first purchase for my build, (5) Nitto Trail Grappler M/T 37x12.5R17 from Discount Tire Direct and I have to decide on getting the $50 per tire warranty or not.

I have purchased locally from Discount since I can remember and have always purchased the full replacement, free balance & rotation, but have never had to use the warranty yet (this is my 3rd jeep / 7th 4x4). Unfortunately, because I am going with beadlocks this time around, I won't be able to take advantage of free balancing / tire rotations :doh: I did some searching and have yet to find anyone who has had to replace one of these tires due to trail damage, and some of you do some pretty extreme stuff.

So those that have run the Nitto Trail Grappler M/T with ATX Slab Beadlocks - get the full replacement warranty / insurance for $250 or skip it? I am leaning toward skipping it and just putting that money toward trucklights or something else on my long list of must-haves as I am on a budget and every $ saves is a $ I can put toward more mods.

I have it, but haven't had to use it yet, but know people who have used it and I think it is a good thing if you abuse your tires. I have never bought it for my cars but what we put our tires through I think it is a good idea.

As far as Rotating and Balancing - Americas Tire (discount tire here in socal) will balance and rotate them with beadlocks - however they won't mount a replacement. I was told If I remove the bead ring they will mount and set the bead for me. They will only do a basic balance but mine didn't need it. Also if you are going to have them balanced do them a favor and remove the center caps on the slabs before going in - you will make a friend :) - This is only my experience and not a statement of policy with Discount Tire.
 
The warranty is worth it if you even have 1 tire replaced if you think about it. Just know that they (Discount/America's Tire) have the ability to deny the replacement. My buddy just had his Nitto TG denied.

As far as the balancing/ rotation that shouldn't be an issue. America's Tire has mounted my tire on my ATX slab (I installed the ring) with no issues. They also balance and rotate with no issues.

Bumping this as thead back from the dead as I am currently in the same debate. I am about to purchase 5 37 Toyo OC and wondering if I should spend the money on the warranty or pass. I will be mounting the tires to ATX slabs, and I will be wheeling them... I am just looking for experience. Anyone have Beadlocks and USED a tire replacement warranty thought Americas/Discount Tire? Thanks for sharing your experience.

$50 is cheaper than $350 if you puncture your tire. It can save you a ton of money in the long run if you take your jeep off-road

while this is true, and I would HOPE would be the case, the warranty CLEARLY excludes "Off Highway Vehicle Use" hence why I am looking for someone with experience replacing/repairing a tire under warranty, on a beadlock with rock rash visible and present. Because the Mount and balance is $16/tire X 5 tires = $80.00 (they wont mount beadlocks anyway) the replacement certificates are $64/tire x 5 tires = $320; that's $400 MORE to go with discount tire, rather than just ordering my tires online. each tire is $380 so I would come out on top unless I replaced 2 or more in 3 years... hence why I'm asking.
 
I hate buying insurance because I feel I never get my money's worth. If you can afford it, skip it. Otherwise get it.

I do not have any personal experience with discount/America tires warranty. The manager I spoke to at my local store did allow me to purchase warranty for my tires even though I did not purchase them there. I have not had to use that yet though. He assured me that if I punctured or flattened my tires off Road, they would be warranted.

I do have experience with four-wheel parts warranties on their tires and I've never seen one denied. From punctures to major sidewall damage, four wheel parts has always honored the warranty if you purchase the warranty. Of course, this is experience from my local stores only.
 
Get the warranty. Think about it, if you have to have one tire replaced do you want to pay full price or just the amount for a new cert? Just cause you wheel it does not make it denied. There are other factors that will cause it.
 
I've actually used the warranty on our tires quite a few times. Well worth it to me. I've purchased so many tires from Discount Tire that they have Even allowed me to warranty stock tires on my wife's commander. This was after the replaced one for free. We didn't even buy the tires there, they came on the Jeep. This next round of tires will be the first time I will skip the warranty, only because I will buy them here and there are no Discount Tire stores in Hawaii, where we are moving.
 
I haven't had to replace a tire due to off roading. But I did run over a Cresent wrench w my nitto tg. The wrench went into my tire w only the head of the wrench sticking out. didn't have the warranty. But they did prorate the tire so intend of 400 I paid about 175.

I purchased my 37" Trail Grapplers through Discount Tire this time last year. I originally declined the certs but the sales rep asked me why and I stated the cost. He ended up giving me 5 certs for the price of 3. It might be worth it to see if they will work with you.

Discount couldn't touch the price from tirecrawler.com. so I decided not to go through them. Tirecrawler haa a warranty program through "Sonsio" and its done off reimbursement, so I take the tire to their approved repair/replace facility, I pay, then submit, then they deem weather or not to reimburse the repair/replacement... its $45/tire

You can buy the tires anywhere and still get the insurance/warranty via discount tire or Americas tire.

Nice! That is good info! I'm going to swing by the local discount shop and pick up some TPMS rebuild kits (replacement stems or whatever) and I'll ask about it at that point. Thanks for the tip!
 
buy the certificates.

I got into some mesquite thorn bushes when off road in South Tx and it looked like I ran over a porcupine - I ruined 2 tires.

I called the DT in San Antonio (closest one I could find) and even though they didn't have the tires I needed, it was close to closing and I was an hour away they waited for me.

It took me longer than an hour because I had to stop and keep filling with air but they waited. When I arrived i was prepared to buy new tires but they found and had the tires I needed at the store by the time I got there.

They replaced 2 tires under the certificates no questions asked.

DT has proven themselves over and over in various states when I had/created tire issues with the same level of service. Certificates are cheap compared to buying a new tire.
