My father worked in the oil field when I was kid and it afforded me the opportunity to live in Holland for 9 months. I lived in a tiny little town called Den Helder, an hour north of Amsterdam, right on the North Sea. I could walk out of our home and the dike/levee directly in front of us seperated the us from the sea, it was amazing. Because Holland is so small, lots of different countries and places to see are an hour or less away from you. Everyone there (I mean everyone) speaks English, they are exceptionally friendly too.
Decades later during my Army career, I had the opportunity to go back and train their Dutch Special Ops. I enjoyed it even more the month I was there. I have also conducted quite a few missions out of Kandahar, AFG years later with some of the same Dutch Forces and they remain some of my favorite foreigners I have trained and worked with.
Think of all the arm pits you could possible be stationed at (make sure you point that out to her :brows

I mean this is the Netherlands! Its a beautiful country, tons of historical stuff to see, places to travel to.......To me it seems like a once in a life time opportunity you may never get again. I'm not sure how old you or the fiancé are, but let's say your max relocation time over there is three years, that time will fly by and as you get older it goes even quicker. At a minimum, you will appreciate the U.S.A. even more upon your return.
Good luck with your choices and your career! Thank you for your service :thumb:
