On Tuesday, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel spent the day at the Pentagon checking out new innovations from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and one of which was this, The ATLAS Robot.

Here's a YouTube clip showing it action:

Who knew that Boston Dynamics would be the Cyberdyne of our day. Certainly, ATLAS looks a hell of a lot closer to a Systems Model 101 Series 800 Version 2.4 Infiltration-Combat Unit than anything I've seen to date.

I wonder how many BILLIONS of dollars went into the development of that rat trap?

i dont have any information at hand but from my understanding of DARPA it typically hands out multi million dollar grants to private companies for them to do the research and development so i doubt billions of DARPA's money was spent on this.

It was developed by boston dynamics who was just bought by.... GOOGLE.

website is here: http://www.bostondynamics.com

they make some cool/creepy ish. youtube boston dynamics and see some of their stuff in action.

Looks like we're a little closer to having our own home robot, way cool.

Should these babies ever decide to go rogue in the near future, we humans are at least fortunate enough to still have Will Smith around to save us.
