It seems the ESS fails if just about anything else electronic/CANBUS has issues.

ESS went out when I lost a wheel speed sensor, along with several other systems.

Before you start throwing money at it, run it for codes.

test the aux battery separate from the main - you basically have to remove it to get a proper voltage test

Just do an aux battery delete, fixes everything… all the cool kids are doing it on the internet, what could go wrong!?
