Poison frogs

Last night my 6 yr.old golden retriever Teddy ate what we believe was a poison toad. I was out in the yard as usual with him washing the Jeep when I noticed he was acting strange. Within minutes he was foaming at the mouth and collapsed with a convolutions. we rushed him to the vet and as of right now he seems to be blind and is having a hard time breathing and has a high fever and irregular arrhythmia. To top things off today is his birthday as well as my mothers who passed in 09. :( Strange waking up and not having him bum rush me for his morning cookie

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope your buddy gets better.

Yay! Lucky me.... Picked "army vet", because it was something I am very proud of; didn't realise at the time how often vets loose their mind on here.... Wish I thought of something different at the time LOL!

Ed. Sorry to hear about your dog. Having a sick pet is one of the worst feelings in the world. I hope he makes a full recovery. I just added poison toads to the list of things that will keep me moving to Florida.

Well, not that my opinion matters for much, but unlike some of the recent candidates on here you seem to be alright...

...so far anyways. ;)

Thanks MTG! I tend to get opinionated.... and a lil froggy at times, but I try to keep a level head.... And would never throw the vet status around for any kind of leverage

I find that often the ones that "throw around vet status" are the ones that haven't done that much.

My being a veteran has helped me handle the ups and downs of every day life. I tend to hold higher than normal standards for myself.

Wait.. army vet is a veteran? :cheesy: :thumb:

Sorry to hear about you dog. Hoping everything for the better for you. Where we are at I got to watch out for snakes.

Our English Bulldog is truly a part of our family, not to the status of our kids, but she is definitely loved.
Can't imagine not being tackled in the morning for her vitamins and treats - would really fell empty.
My heart goes out to you, hope your pup recovers. Dogs can be expensive when they get to the Vets (not Veterans).
blessings!

Well fellas He's home! :thumb: A little outa sorts but a sweet home coming and an end to what I thought was going to be a sad story. The Bufo Toads down here are nasty and when threatened secrete a white puss that is a powerful neurotoxin that'll kill most anything.

Glad to hear Teddy made it back home.

Ed......Sorry to hear about your Golden.......I'm happy to hear he's home and doing better.......I've had the same thing happen to one of my Chocolate Labs.........I found him walking in circles in the yard foaming at the mouth.....rushed him to the emergency vet here in Hollywood.......Rough couple of days but he pulled through.....vet said if he was a smaller dog he probably wouldn't of made it.......I cleaned out some areas in my yard that the toads liked to hang out in.....I threw down some rock salt to irritate them enough to leave and go somewheres else........Still wanting to slide by your shop and check out the '69 Pro Touring Charger and I may need your services in some welding i need done.....I'll call you early this week.......Take care of Terry my friend
