Paint & body experts : Will my chipped Jeep door rust?

Napalm

Caught the Bug
I apologize in advance for this probably stupid question, but I'm no paint or body expert.

I've gotten a pretty good rock chip in my steel door. It looks like it's down past the clear coat and paint. Im needing to get some touch up paint and take care of it, but it may be a week or two before I can get some in my color.

Should I be concerned with rust starting to eat my door?

I've taking the door off and stored it in the garage away from the elements, but I didn't know if it would begin to rust, and if I should take any precautions so that it doesn't.

Thanks!!

You should be fine especially if you're not around any salted roads or sea air. Brush on a bit of touch up paint and you'll be good to go long term.

It's completely fine. I have a bunch of chips all over mine and I am in the salt belt. If you can't get a good touch up paint, just use clear nail polish for the time being. Actually lasts pretty long.
Or the old fashioned trick of putting a little "Mop n' Glow" works too.

Having some difficulty locating Billet Silver touch up paint that's a perfect match.

Where are you guys getting your touch up paint?

So, I took Sullivan's advice and put on a couple coats of clear nail polish! Hopefully it works until I can get some touch up paint.

Found some on Amazon. Appears to be authentic Mopar and the paint code PSC for Billet Silver. Although, some of the reviews stated that it was not a perfect match, I guess it will have to do.
