Hey everyone I'm sorry if this has been addressed before I've been so busy with work I have time for nothing; I purchased pax diff covers and was wondering what gear oil I need to go with for a 2015 Rubicon

Thank you
Matt

Go with cheap Lucas gear oil and change regularly (15,000 miles). Make sure the fill hole isn't taller than your stock hole. If it is, you need to be aware of how much oil you are filling the diff with and to not overfill.

Is anyone familiar with the poison spider diff covers and knows if this is an issue ?

I have a PS Bombshell on front. PS recommends using the same fluid capacity that the factory would. So don't use the fill hole as the level indicator, find out the gearbox quantity from Jeep. Almost all aftermarket diff covers will recommend the same. If you go to the manufacturer website, most of them have a PDF form listing the instructions. The fluid capacity is listed there.

EDIT: Here is just one example from PS's website, see step 6: http://poisonspyder.com/assets/install_instructions/PSC-INST-BOMBSHELL.pdf. Again, most aftermarket cover manufacturers will say the same thing.

I have the Poison Spyder covers front and rear of my 20104 Rubicon X and no issues, but I had to make sure I purchased the new part number for track bar clearance. The instruction cautioned about overfilling and having fluid blow out the vent, but I just fill to the bottom of the hole and have not had a problem...

The new PS covers have the fill hole level with where it should be and they also clear the rear trackbar easily. You are good to go.

Swampdog just beat me to it. If you have a newer Poison Spyder cover just use the fill hole unless you have rotated your axles.
From the Poison Spyder website:
"This re-design also includes moving the gear oil fill hole to the stock fluid level height so there's no more research, guesswork or measuring—simply fill the diff to the level of the fill hole."
I just changed my oil a couple of times due to putting in new gears and also did what SD recommended. Lucas oil. Get 4 quarts and your good to go.

Thank you everyone ! I just wasn't sure if I needed any special gear oil since it has lockers and not a limits slip ... Really appreciate it

What weight oil do you guys use on your rubicons ? Manual says 80w-90 or 75w-140 if towingImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1462976852.071632.jpg

I just 80-140 just because I have 5.13's in my jk. If your jeep is on the heavier side I would do the latter as it wouldn't hurt anything

^Agreed. I got some 75-140 at Oreilleys for only a few bucks more a quart than the 80-90. Worth it to me.
