Mysterious wire under shift boot

The jk got a little wet a few days ago so I was going through with a towel and drying the console area off. Was a little too aggressive on the shiftboot and pulled it up off it's clips. No big deal if popped back down but I did see something weird. There's a harness wire just hanging out under there. Anyone have any idea what it's for?

I'd you have a manual it is probably for the back lighting for the automatic transmission selector. Just my WAG

Do you have the connectivity package? I *think* it might be the wire for the in console USB port, so if you don't have the USB port, that would be the harness that would have plugged into it.
