Just read an article on Allpar and written by David Zatz that points out the change from independent to solid axles and the moving of the Cherokee out of Toledo will effectively push the release of the Jeep JL Wrangler to 2018. With any luck, we should be seeing it by late 2017. Of course, this is really nothing new here but rather, just another confirmation of what we already suspected.
The Jeep Wrangler is popular, and the plant that makes it is stretched to capacity. Jeep has announced that it will kick the Cherokee out of Toledo and move the Wrangler into Cherokee’s factory, which will mean a complete change in both plants.
The factory move, and a rumored last minute engineering change from independent to solid axle suspensions, means that the dates for “JL’s” launch is fairly far in the future.
Reliable source Danno wrote that the new Wrangler “JL” would appear in model year 2018, which likely means sometime in calendar year 2017 — other sources claim a summer launch.
