Hooked
Been looking for tires for the Gladiator. I have absolutely worn out the original Falken's. 56K miles on a mud terrain is hard to beat. Earlier this year, I had to replace the 40s on the Grendel for our trip out to Moab. Didn't want to drive that many miles and chance it on it the old tires I had. So, that took a chunk out of my wallet.
Then, 2 weeks after I bought and mounted my 40s. I take my wife's 4Runner to the store to grab something and it's shaking violently above 20 mph. I immediately call her and say, "how long has your 4runner been like this?!!!" She proceeds to tell me, "well, I think it's been a few days."
You have to tell me these things immediately woman! Turns out she had ballooned out a sidewall on her Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Granted they were 60K miles deep. But, I was hoping we were going to get her vehicle to 2026 before I had to buy her a new set. Well 4 new tires for her 4Runner later and it was game over for the Gladiator in 2025. lol.
Fast forward to last night. I have been looking various places for deals on 37s, so I can budget for the beginning of the year. Northridge has their buy 4 get the 5th free promotion on Nittos and Mickeys. Which is a pretty decent deal in and of itself. At some point, I added a set of 5 Nitto TGs in my cart a few days ago. I went back to the site last night, and they were magically cheaper than the website shows.
5 37 TGs show up on the site as $1912 before tax etc.
In my cart, 5 Nitto TGs showed $1552 before tax!!! With Texas tax and the "oversize" fee, I am $1700 all in.
I was like no way this is right. I double checked product codes. All checked out. I figured it would fix itself if I tried to check out. Nope.
So, I said screw it. I cannot pass up a deal like this. Paid for it. Got a receipt that says they are shipping direct from the manufacturer.
Now, I still expect Northridge to cancel it and say there was an error or something. Fingers crossed.
