How much is my Jeep worth?

Caught the Bug
So, I have been doing a lot of thinking lately and the thought of starting over is crossing my mind.
When I bought my Jeep a few months ago I never imagined I would have built it to where it is so fast. I'm loving every minute of it.
I'm at the point where I really love where it's at but want to go all the way (DTD, PR's, etc...). Things have changed for us, opportunities have opened up that have allowed for some extra fun money I wasn't expecting.

I'm thinking about selling my current JKUR and starting over from scratch with a new Sport instead of a Rubicon.

My question is how much should I sell my current JK for?
It's a 2014 JKUR bought June 30th

WHAT??? I would get the KBB value, then the parts total and find a happy medium. Sad thing is we will never get full value of add ons. Or, try to return as much to stock as possible and sell add ons separately. Either way, GLWS and can't wait to see what you do with the next one :yup:

I also have all my stock parts including my factory tires and wheels too...

Why not keep the jeep you have and put the new stuff into it and sell the parts you're taking off? You already have the jeep (and being that it's a Rubicon you get some of the luxuries that you might not get with the sport. And like stated above the jeep depreciates like crazy so I feel like in the long run you'd be costing yourself more money by getting a new one. I'd put the DTD and prorocks and whatnot into the jeep you have now and sell the old stuff to make up some of the difference and enjoy the ride!

Well I'd be willing to buy the Bolt On C/O kit from you depending on what you would want. If we came together on price you could consider those sold now lol. I'd also be willing to buy the front and rears at separate times if you needed it that way.

I will say that in Houston a Built Rig Evo DTD w/D60 & D80 with all of your other supporting mods sold recently for 42k. I believe that Jeep had 20ish thousand miles.

At $48k you are asking about $6k over the list price of a fully loaded brand new Rubi in my neck of the woods. With your part list, I don't think $48k is an unreasonable price. Looks like you are probably into it for around $12-15k in parts.

I'm curious why you would start over though. Why not sell the axles and the lift to trade up to PR's and the DTD? You could get decent coin for them, and then you would still have the Rubi transfer case and front E-Sway bar (which can always be switched to the EVO no limits and is still easier than other manual discos).

Around here, Jeeps hold their value pretty well. After 3.5 years and 30-40k miles, I sold mine for $4,500 less than I bought it for.
 
I'm right around $14.5k in parts alone, I looked up the KBB private sale and it's around $37,000.
This is just a thought the wife and I are talking about. Thanks for the input guys. Still thinking which way to go...

I agree with these guys, keep the rubi and sell the parts you have to build it the way you want :yup: the mods you have now will sell fast
 
Keep what you got. Think about sentimental value and all the attachment you got by working on it. You are bonded to that jeep

Keep it. Because copperhead is the best color ;-)

IMHO I'd remove the suspension, sell the axles, and recoup some of the expense of your new mods. Starting over is always fun, but you've got a pretty spectacular rig as it is.
 
I am with the rest.

Besides you are looking at about $20k +/- a few $K for the full set up.

You are better moving forward with what you have and than starting over.

i personally would keep it also. you will get some many back by selling your rubi axles and the rest of the stock parts. there is always going to be someone who needs a front d44 that will pay good money for it when you take it off.
 
If you're not emotionally attached, which your not, because you wouldn't even be considering selling. I would sell if you could break close to even. I sold my first jeep and started over.
But if you are in love with your current jeep just keep it.
 
I am with the majority and say keep it. I would just sell the parts that are to be upgraded. I am surely interested in the coilovers. :yup:
 
When I sold my 07 JK in '10, I had about 50 in it and I walked away with 22k cash and that was really a good deal at the time. It had relatively low miles and was still under warranty. The bottom line is it's not worth as much as you think it is, unless you manage to get very lucky and find someone who is willing to pay for all the extras. Most people aren't, or at least that was my experience. A dealer definitely won't, and very few people will at the very best.

I think you're looking at more like 45 tops. You could stand that next to a hard rock edition brand new and make that sales pitch fairly easily I would think. The reality is you have to find someone who can pay cash, because a bank won't finance over MSRP likely.

Everyone who is saying sell the parts are super wishful thinkers at best. You aren't going to sell the parts because that is a huge hassle, and you'll still never get what you want for them. Plus you'll have to replace them with something - and even if you kept all your stock stuff, the time and energy it will take to do all that work won't be worth it financially.

Sorry to be debbie downer, but that's the reality.

For me, I was referring to selling his aftermarket parts since he wants to upgrade axles, coilovers to DTD, etc. But selling aftermarket and putting stock back on to sell the jeep is a PITA. I did it with my 2012 Grand Cherokee...it sucked, money and labor wise.
 
I'm really struggling with this because I am really attached to it and love my unique Copperhead color. It's just I want to do things so different that in the end it seems like a better way to just start over then hassle with selling so many separate parts. Axles, seats, sliders, wheels, tires, rear bumper, etc.
I've thought about picking up a used 12-13 and going from there. Like I said still thinking about all my options. There seems to be a whole lot of crap for a lot of money on eBay when it comes to lifted Jeeps. 2013s with teraflex and smittybilt for high 50s. Mines all quality for mid to upper 40s. Maybe I'll shoot for the moon and see what happens and if it doesn't sell I'll just continue with my amazing Orange Prius! Thanks for the help guys.
