I am a new Jeep convert and had no idea this bug would hit me so hard. We bought a lightly used fairly stock 2000 TJ, and now I can't wait to get an additional JK Unlimited to experience the "unseen" portions of the mountains. We live less than 2 hours from the start of the Rubicon Trail, and can't wait to see the many trails so close to us! Thanks for the inspiration!

Here's my 2000 TJ, it was stock almost a year ago. Wish I lived in the Sac area, it's a lot closer to the Sierra's than Sonoma County. Welcome aboard!

So I guess there is hope for mine. Unfortunately I have the 3speed auto, and 3.07 gears. I would like to get a limited slip at the very least for now. I would like to explore some of the trails around the Tahoe area, 50, and 80 corridors. Any suggestions?

single peak, off of 80 has some good views. If your stock though I would run it starting from the look out tower down, and then just turn around where you start to feel uncomfortable. The first mile or two (or the last if you go from the look out down) will probably be pretty hard in a stock rig with open difs, so I would probably turn around when you see the steep downhill with loose rocks.
