Carrying jerry cans and other gear on the tailgate

I've been working on ways to carry extra gear on the tailgate. I'm experimenting with a mounting grid that bolts to the tailgate hinges. In these photos the grid is in two pieces, I made the prototype that way so I could experiment with the pieces and find the maximum width grid that would fit and still allow full opening of the tailgate.





The blue NATO can above is a small 5 liter can, here's a full-size 5 gallon jerry can mounted:

Prototype meaning these aren't final and I will probably make changes before I do a final install and use them. No, I don't have a business, I'm doing these for my own Jeep. Posting them here to see what people think and see anyone has any comments or ideas to improve them. I don't sell anything.
