Hi, I broke my tailgate retainer strap on my JL yesterday. Not sure exactly how, but I think my air line got in the way of it and somehow interfered with it closing. But since the stock one is so fragile (I've read they break a lot), I was thinking of looking for something other than OEM. I actually like how easy it is to open and close without the stock one in place. But those wires from the body to the tailgate need protection. I have searched but only found OEM and aftermarket copies of the OEM. Has anyone here found a replacement made of something like webbing or braided paracord that actually mounts correctly on the JL?
