Anyone having issues with the AEV pintler wheels. Have had 2 crack in the last 30 days,,,they don't seemed to worried about this. They replaced 1 so far 2nd goes back tomorrow. And I have been unable to play in my jeep for the last 7 months all highway use...any input would be great...oh 13 other rims have cracked from 1 shop alone

That sucks. I had heard of cracking issues a few years ago but I thought it had been resolved. I guess not.

I've only owned mine for a short time but I have beat on them considerably and no issues so far... I'll keep my eyes pealed.

Have they given you a lot number? Or ID number to look for??

That sucks Brotha! Just as HDGasser said, I would be asking about a lot numbers that might have had something go wrong during manufacturing.

ok so new one is on but tire shop told me they will not put the other one on, they stated its a liability..if it cracks while I am driving nd I get hurt or someone gets hurt it can come back to them..hate to say it but I agree. if one comes apart on the freeway that would not be good. I am asking for a lot number..i know that just a short time ago 4 out of 5 cracked on a jeep purchased from aev. so its not just the old ones. and I cant sell these to someone, what if..well thanks for all the help..hope to see all of you at TDS..

That's BS... You need to tell aev you want your $$$ back... They can keep those wheels.

I'll definitely be keeping a very close eye on my wheels now.

I promise you there will be a very unsavory and highly disgruntled customer standing outside there office if my old lady or kid are hurt in an accident caused by those wheels...

If I recall the cracks are forming where the spoke blends with tth eouter portion of the rim. I have had my set for almost three years with no issues. Heard about it about a year ago and keep looking but nothing yet. Possibly a bad batch?

This was a problem a few years ago and is still going on so it couldn't be just a bad batch.

on the AEV forum Dave said that the supplier was changed a while back and now they are changing again. Apparently the savgres and pintlers are currently not made by the same Chinese sweat shop.

I don't care who makes them, when you are paying over $200 per wheel you want them to last.

Thanks for that info.

Geez! So I've been considering buying a set of Pintlers I found on Craigslist that have roughly 30k miles on them.... Now this has me thinking twice....

Well i would assume if they have been ran that long with no issue they should be one of the good sets but who knows.

Pintler a

Well just got my 2nd one back from AEV. With no issues, but i will say I was very disappointed that they did not seem to care about the issue with the wheels. The shop I go to has had 13 bad pintler wheels. And also the tire shop where I have gone since I was a kid would not reinstall the 2nd one. And he said since he new what the issue was it would be a liability if something went wrong. So if I was driving and the wheel came apart it could come back to bite him so I had to go to a different tire shop to get it done..you would think they would be all over this. Really disappointed in there attitude. So now I am going to put a new set of rims on and I have to decide if I want to sell them to someone. What's my liability...I would feel terrible if something went wrong and someone was hurt. Sure hope there lifts were not built by the same people.

its frustrating because I really prefer the style of these wheel over most others. I just made another trip to the tire shop for a slow leak fix only to find out I have another cracked pintler wheel, this will be my second wheel sent back to AEV. I'm sure like the first they will replace this one too, its just a hassle to deal with making extra trips to tire shop and paying for mounting and balancing. it wouldn't be so bad if they would allow and train their stocking dealers to make to make warranty decisions on the spot. I'm not hating on AEV, they do stand behind there products but there seems to be a lot discussion on the boards about a very similar cracking issue and AEV Pintlers. I'm debating whether to purchase my own spare replacement wheel, or sell off my AEVs for something stronger.
