Been a hell of a year to find time to get out and do some exploring but last week, Cindy and I finally found some and did just that. Our main purpose was to soak in some fall colors but also used the opportunity to check out some properties for sale that we've eyeing. While the trip was nothing too special, the weather was perfect and we had a great time. Anyway, here are a few pics from our trip.

Started off our morning with a few stops along an old highway and to see some of relics still standing from a time long ago.

These shots were of the first property we went to check out and it was 210 acres in size.

While there were no trees on the property, there were some nice building sites, a seasonal spring fed creek and beautiful rolling golden hills to explore.

Here's a shot from the top part of the property and if you real close, you can just make out Pippi in the distance.

Not 100% sure what this was or is but I can tell you that it was deep and there were 2 large pipes with old valves on them. Lots of bones from rodents to snakes to antelope that had fallen inside and died.

After leaving the property, we explored some of the canyons and found what we came looking for - beautiful fall colors.

Here we are taking in the views of the valley below as we crested a summit.

And, we even got a chance to get Pippi's feet a bit wet. Really surprising to see water still flowing this late in the year.

The second property we came to see was 320 acres in size and in a canyon. Essentially, it was surrounded on 3 sides by beautiful mountains, striking rock formations, tall aspens and a creek flowing through it. Extremely quite, private and gorgeous but... steep, rugged and not a single good place to build.

The property literally goes to the top of the ridgelines you see.

Even turning back around was tough and for that, we were glad that we came in Pippi.

Anyway, that was our trip and we hope you enjoyed the few pics we took from it

Can’t beat a day like that. Is this in a similar area to the property you guys bought earlier this year or is this up near your place in Carson City?

Actually, these are about 2 hours away from Carson City. Our new ranch is about a half hour away from home.
Pretty cool proprieties and good to see pipi doing a little exploring
It's been a while and honestly, still a lot of fun. Something about getting out in a 2-door :)
I really like the second property, it looks awesome
It really is a striking piece of property. If only it had something close to a level spot or a potential place to build.

In Arizona, houses are often built on steep hillsides and even in areas which are almost a cliff. Typically a cinder-block foundation is built and the house goes on top of that. Some houses even have stilts on one side.

So level ground is not required.

Nothing a D11 couldn’t fix! 😂

LOL - oh, I'm sure something can be done but we're hoping to have more useable space than just a place to build. It's a big part of what we like about Zero Topaz. But, it is super sweet out there.

Still interested in the riverside property?

What are your thoughts on property in the Virginia City area?

LOL - I'm sure if Cindy had it her way, we would be.

The riverside property sold already. Should have jumped on it when I had the chance.

I personally like the Virginia City area especially being that it's full of history, close to Reno but is still in Storey County, meaning you don't have to worry about smog laws. They do get quite a bit of snow in the winter though.
Very Cool. Nice looking properties. I wonder if that was some type of sump pump or irrigation system..
I was thinking irrigation but hard to say for sure. The pipes looked pretty old and I'm not sure where they would have gone. All the big farms are down in the valley floor.

We were having a discussion after the Raiders game with some long time NV residents that have bought property up in Virginia City…they really like it up there…
