Day 5/Part 2 - Rocks and Valleys Off-Road Park
Located a little south of Houghton Lake, Rocks and Valleys is a relatively new off-road park with over 200 arces of hills, rocks, mud, tightly planted trees and other obstacles that offer a great time for wheelers of all skill levels. And, as luck would have it, this is where we would get to spend the second half of our fifth day on the JK-Experience. It's also where most of us would get our first experience wheeling on tires!!
Pulling into Northern Michigan's premier off-road park, Rocks and Valleys...
Drivers meeting...
Time to play...
Ummm, tires?? This ought to be interesting...
Not by choice but, EVO1 still managing to tear up the tires without lockers...
Believe it or not, these spongy and loose tires are a lot harder to wheel that you'd think...
Sometimes it's better to be safe that sorry and break something like an axle or drive shaft...
These damn tires were about the exact with of a 2-door JK's break over angles...
With a HEMI, you can just blast your way up as Daystar, Tequilla and Skyjacker were able to...
Moving right along, EVO1 jumps into a nasty rock garden protruding through the muck. Thanks to the fact he no longer has a factory gas tank, clearing this obstacle was a piece of cake for him...
So close yet so far away - almost through, Moby gets high-centered on his gas tank and needs a little help from Vengeance...
Vengeance gets even closer but again, his gas tank got in the way - In the interest of time, he would be the last to attempt this obstacle...
Pusing forward...
Back at the staging area and getting ready for dinner...
After finding out we had a little more time on hand, Mel decided to take EVO1 up the Winch Hill...
Not wanting to miss out on the fun, Randy jumps in behind EVO1...
While he did great, dinner was calling and the decision was made to just pull him out of the rough...
If there's one thing I can say about the 2012 JK-Experience, it's that we ate really really well and our awesome BBQ dinner hosted by the good folks at Rocks and Valleys was no exception...
A BIG thanks to all of you at Rocks and Valleys for being so welcoming!! :thumb:
