    Regular gas spark knock

Had the knock on my 13 with 137k miles for a couple years. It clears up whenever I put non-ethanol in it (Sunoco and some Circle K's here in Florida sell it). This ethanol crap is what causes it to be more pronounced. Using an octane boost additive didn't do much to help it. Using the...

Need help with grinding noise JKU 3.6 2013

This forum is the best. You guys are awesome. Pulled the starter, bendix was not disengaging (hammer test was negative- I couldn't get enough leverage to give it some good taps). Flywheel was good. Starter replaced and the Jeep is as quiet as it could be..lol.

Need help with grinding noise JKU 3.6 2013

138k miles, just to be on the safe side I will replace the starter and see if that resolves the issue. If not, back to the drawing board I go.

Need help with grinding noise JKU 3.6 2013

I thought that was the case too. I recently had the entire clutch replaced and the noise was there before the replacement and it’s still there. The starter theory makes sense to me because about a month prior to this happening I noticed sluggish starts and occasional non-starts I thought was...

Need help with grinding noise JKU 3.6 2013

Going crazy with this noise. So it came back again and is worse than ever. I disconnected the belt and it is not the crankshaft pulley. I isolated the worst of it to under the drivers side (see image). I’ve searched for diagrams of the Pentastar and can’t figure out what’s in this area of the...

Need help with grinding noise JKU 3.6 2013

So I ended up spraying some lubricant onto the crankshaft pulley and the noise is significantly better, so it looks like that’s my issue. I also found a loose exhaust coupling that was causing all kinds of other rattles. So my Jeep is once again relatively quiet- probably quieter than the first...

I am hoping that's all it is. I'll mess with it this weekend and see if I can isolate it.

Need help with grinding noise JKU 3.6 2013

So recently I developed a really bad metallic grinding noise that at first sounded like it was coming from the gearbox (I have a 6sp), but after some investigation led me to underneath the Jeep in the area of the crankshaft pulley (?). The noise comes from that region and into the area of the...

    Radiator leak…

This Jeep has been pretty good. I’m still on the original clutch and I towed a 3000 pound camper around the country for a year. Along with a Jeep full of gear, two mountain bikes and a rooftop storage box. I can’t complain.

137k miles. I just fixed a bad valve cover gasket. Guess I have another project.

    Radiator leak…

I noticed some coolant on the driveway the other day. Jeep was parked for about 15 hours. I saw a small drop of coolant coming from the corner where the black plastic meets the aluminum. It’s been really hot out, and my coolant reservoir went down in level since I last filled it by about two...

    reprograming tire size

I use the Superchips Flashcal. Works great, and I can use it to change a lot of other options like DRL, fog lamp use, clear DTC's and read DTC's, you name it.

Random (non-Jeep) Shit You’re Working On....

I did moisture test it. There were a couple small areas where no matter what I did, the stuff didn't adhere properly. The prior owners had an old floor down, but oils or some other residue got deep into the concrete. Fortunately, the areas were small. I only sealed those parts and didn't do the...

Random (non-Jeep) Shit You’re Working On....

Decided to empty out my garage and redo the flooring with the DuPont (generic Home Depot) garage floor epoxy kit. Took me two months. Rented a POD and threw everything in it, cleared out my attic and put planks down, scraped the floor with a Diamabrite tool, laid down the epoxy after pressure...

    Rich's Command Green Budget Build

It's been awhile! Thought I'd post an update, as the Jeep is always a work in progress....until you run out of money! So I decided to do some mods before I did a year long road trip with my Jeep. We took it all around the US towing a teardrop camper and had a great time. I needed to add some new...

I have 2 NEVER INSTALLED OR USED Rough Country Black Series 2" LED cubes, all wiring including dash rocker switch, along with two mounting brackets for the lights to be used as an OEM fog lamp replacement on the STOCK JKU BUMPER.
