    My 1st Jeep build....the struggle

Yeah I was never a fan of that show either. Didn't it only last a few seasons?

    My 1st Jeep build....the struggle

So I'm almost complete with phase #1 of my 17 JKU Rubicon build and getting it set up for 37's. The 1st phase included replacing the budget AEV lift, replacing all the steering components to fix death wobble and installing a Powerstop Big brake conversion kit. To say the least, it's been quite...

My Jeep drives like crap after installing new lift kit

Thanks jeeeep, Currently my tires are around a 33". I'll be going to 37s eventually if I can get this thing dialed in. I'll take a look at my stabilizer like you suggested. I just installed a Falcon Nexus stabilizer. But the jeep drove like this before and after the stabilizer, although after...

My Jeep drives like crap after installing new lift kit

Thanks GP, I'll double check but I don't think I have a dropped pitman arm.

My Jeep drives like crap after installing new lift kit

Thanks Eddie, The steering kit that I installed was a 'flip' kit with the drag link relocated to the top of the knuckle. The Yeti track bar bracket is raised and has 2 mounting holes for the track bar, one for 3.5" lift and one for a 4" lift. I used the hole for 3.5". I'll measure bolt to...

My Jeep drives like crap after installing new lift kit

That makes sense. I thought that a drop bracket was just a way to correct geometry without having to buy adjustable CAs, but I'm still learning about all this stuff. The only other geometry-based item I can think of is the draglink and track bar angles. From what I understand, you want those as...

My Jeep drives like crap after installing new lift kit

Yep that's pretty much how it drives! Any little rut or abnormally in the asphalt it feels like it wants jump around. Just doesn't feel planted to the road.

My Jeep drives like crap after installing new lift kit

Sorry I just realized I posted this in the JL section! Thanks for the input Wayoflife! The amount of lift is almost the same as the AEV, according to measurements I took before the work, its actually 1/4" lower. I went with Metalcloak Baller ball joints. I ordered a Adams front drive shaft but...

My Jeep drives like crap after installing new lift kit

Last week I finished up the install of a new Clayton 3.5" lift, 1 ton steering kit, ball joints, and upper/lower track bar brackets on my 2017 JKU Rubicon. All control arms and both front and rear track bar are adjustable. Even after alignment and caster set to 4.2 degrees, the jeep drives...

Will 4.57 backspacing work with 1 Ton steering Kit?

Thanks Disciple, that makes perfect sense!

Will 4.57 backspacing work with 1 Ton steering Kit?

Thanks DirtHead, I didn't think about adjusting the steer stops.

Will 4.57 backspacing work with 1 Ton steering Kit?

Hi everyone, I'm new to Jeeps but not new to offroading and building rigs and hot rods. I'm currently building up my (new to me) '17 JKU Rubicon and installing a new Clayton 3.5 lift, ball joints, C-gussets, axle u-joints, driveshaft etc. While I'm at it I want to install a 1 ton steering kit...

    New Az Jeeper

Hello everyone, thanks for letting me join! I recently left the SxS scene and bought a 17 JKU Rubicon Hard Rock. It currently has a 3“ lift, 33s and a nice little case of death wobble! I'm in the process of swapping out the lift for a Clayton 3.5, 1 ton steering kit, new drive shafts, ball...
