Lack of Parts for OE Rubicon Dana 44 and UD-44 axles

In my quest for parts for my OEM Rubicon differentials, I called Dana Aftermarket and confirmed the UD-44 uses the OE Jeep Rubicon differentials as standard. When I asked if I could buy a UD-44 differential, I was told they don't sell them separately, you have to purchase the whole axle, same as...

    JL/ JT fans ?

I'm looking to upgrade to a more powerful fan as well. I have a 2018 3.6L 8sp auto, JLUR. My alternator is a 5629765AA, which my build sheet lists as 220A. My fan is a 68282799AC, which is marked 600W. There are a lot of different part numbers for fans related to various...

Front Hub to Knuckle Bolt = $55 bolt anyone have a better source?

It'd be difficult if not impossible to match the ultimate and fatigue strength of that bolt by simply machining. That head is forged and the threads are rolled with a small radius in the root of the thread. They are hardened to between 39 and 44 RC and have a minimum tensile strength of...

    Jeep Troubles JL

Metalcloak has drop control arm brackets for the front and rear. They also have a bolt-on long arm suspension. Lifting any vehicle creates a cascade of problems that should be solved, but many people ignore them because they can be difficult and expensive to solve. As you learned, the control...

    Oil for a 3.6 l

Pennzoil platinum is at the top of the best oils list. Also up there is Mobil1 Extended Performance. I have been a Mobil1 user for a long time and engines have lasted past my ownership. One is still going at around 300k . I moved to 5w30 across all my vehicles to standardize. Yes even my 3.6 JL.

    Front locker blues

I made some pigtails from wire and used jumper cables straight from the battery, to test it. The actuator worked! I checked the connector that passes through the axle housing and it had 14v. After messing with the connector sockets I got it to work. The connector just wasn't completing the...

    Front locker blues

In the picture above, of course, the anti-rotation dog is removed from the right bearing cap so I could rotate the solenoid to get the sensor out and inspect the solenoid wires. But, specifically to your point, it appears that the plates are properly stacked and they move smoothly by hand...

    Front locker blues

I noted that my front locker wasn't working after getting it back from re-gearing. I bought the Z Automotive sensor bypass jumper just before a trail trip a couple weeks ago. Nothing. We ran Backway to Crown King and really didn't need lockers. Yesterday, I dug into it. The locker hall...

    Re-Gearing

I went to 37s and 4.88s not long ago. 4.56 would have been the numerical (rpm) equal to 4.10s and stock 33s. I was geting a lot of recommendations to go to 5.13s. But I like the engine loafing around at 65-70 mph. From what i've read about those with 35s and stock 4.10s is that 8th gear is...

    Jeep Troubles JL

I have their tire carrier and their Delta brakes. Both are great, even better than great. But some of their stuff is not what I'd buy.

    Going to beadlocks worth it?

Picked up the Rebound Pro's today. Glad that they have ample lug bores to clear a standard socket and shallow enough to start a lug nut by hand.

    Sidewalls

Bummer, I just got my JL up on 37s and was planning on a few Sierra trips with an old friend before we both push up daisies.

FLEX TEST : Will 37's Clear a JL Rubicon running 2.5" of Lift & Without Rubbing??

In checking my current 37x12.50s on 3.5" bs, it appears I have enough clearance for the 4.5", I may have to deal with some front liner rub at full lock-full flex.

FLEX TEST : Will 37's Clear a JL Rubicon running 2.5" of Lift & Without Rubbing??

Question: your original post shows 4.75" backspace with 37x13.50 tires. I'm moving to the 4.5" backspace because the wheel I want (Icon Rebound Pro beadlock) is only available with that backspace. Do you think there will be an interference issue on my JLUR with a 3.5" Metalcloak Game Changer?

    Sidewalls

I'm planning on Dusy this year. I'm hoping to avoid sidewalling a tire.

    Going to beadlocks worth it?

For my needs, I've been reluctant to go to BLs. But, for this upcoming tire change, I made a step in that direction with the Icon Dynamics Rebound Pro wheels. We'll see if they are enough for my uses.

    Spare Axles-Storage and Transport

I have the stock axles out of my 44s and recently went on a trip long enough that I took a lot of tools and spares. The spare axles are a pain to store in the garage and to put in the truck bed (with topper). Anyone have ideas on the some kind of containers for the axles? The rear are the...

Where did your Jeep take You this Week?

Friend and I went to Crown King AZ, stayed in the cabins and ran Backway to Crown King. Most of it was pretty easy. Some of the turnouts had some crazy stuff dug out by side by sides. We did some turnouts. The latter quarter of the trail was more challenging and fun.
