To the OP, are you finding that the bolts holding on the cover are coming loose over a few days of driving? If so, the axle housing is flexing causing it, which in turn causes the seal to break on the cover when using rtv.

Yes it could have been...then again I've seen seat belts that have failed do to being stressed beyond their limits and the person died...the point that I was trying to make, without stepping on anyone's toes, is it would be better to error on the side of caution then not do anything...still...

It was a jku and a couple of years prior to my retirement in 2012 and I don't remember if he was wearing his seatbelt.
