Part ID, and how screwed am I?

what you have there is part of the axle shaft seal, 68304271AA The axial seal comes in two parts. You will need to remove the carrier to get in there to replace the seal. I would recommend making your own tool to press in the seal. I used a threaded rod (long enough to go partially...

2016 SEMA : B&M Jeep JK Wrangler Manual Sport Shifter

FYI to those who have or are about to install this sport shifter When I drained my transmission fluid, I found two small machine screws. The screws came from the shifter. When I inspected the shifter, I found two more screws that were backing out. If I hadn't drained the trans I...

    RPM surging while highway driving

Well I'm deep into the clutch replacement project. It's been slow going. A lot of the bolts were really stuck on. So I am just about ready to disconnect and drop the transmission. I did drain the transmission fluid...no surprise that it was somewhat dirty. The surprise came when I found...

    RPM surging while highway driving

My Jku rear ended by mini van

The same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. A VW Passat didn't do any better vs. my spare. The VW didn't even reach the bumper. He slid into me in stop and go traffic at around 10-12 mph. My tailgate door needed a little adjustment though after the hit.

Is this supposed to sound like this?

It should not sound like that. The only way to properly diagnose would be to remove the back t-case half which can be done without removing the entire case if need be. I recently took apart my t-case due to a crack at the front case half. The whole assembly is rather stout and...

    Jeep jerks when turning

Does anyone have an idea why I would feel a jerking motion (not unlike turning when in 4 wheel drive) when turning while in 2 wheel drive? This condition just showed itself today. Could it possibly be the front u-joints being at issue? Thanks in advance.

JEEP TECH : How to Install ATX Slab Bead Lock Wheels Video w/ Off Road Evolution

Metal on metal contact may happen but I would think that it matters on the tire being mounted. In my case with ATX slabs and 35" Nitto trail grapplers I have a small, consistent gap between the outer ring and the wheel. As long as the tire was mounted such that the bead is evenly set in...

We wheeled over private land including a plantation that has been in place prior to the civil war. We encountered multiple creek crossings and lots of mud which we thoroughly enjoyed...
