I had the same thing you describe happen on our 2018 JL. After the dealer replaced the aluminum steering gearbox with the steel gearbox and installed a software update, the problem never returned. My guess is the software update fixed it. There are tons of reports online that a loose aux...

If you're not getting a CEL or finding any trouble codes in the PCM, I'd start with a crank position sensor and see if it solves the problem.

There is an aftermarket option out there that look well made but if you're a purist like me, you'll probably wait for mopar to get its act together. The company name is Traction Offroad. I was looking at buying the mopar led headlight kit for our JL but they're on NBO too. Lol.

The main take away for anyone reading this thread is that if you have one of these skids, you should check it for cracks. Also, I installed the skid as per the instructions on EVOs web site. I did not contact EVO. I don't care about the metallurgy of this product. I just want stuff that...
