Roll cage tube connecter/coupler. I got it from ruff stuff specialities.

Finished welding in the orbital valve support. I cut out the tire carrier and added some parts to make it removable. The only thing left to do on it is to burn it in. Ran out of c25 so I'll have to TIG it in.

Got the bolt hole pattern drilled for the transmission adapter plate. I used a 3/8 x16 tap with a point as a center punch to transfer the holes from the adapter plate. Since none of the holes on both sides of the flanges are uniform, transferring on this side was the easiest. On the other...

Hopefully all the turning is done on the new foot plate. All that should be left is drilling the bolt holes.

Thank you. That aluminum isn't as big any more, u have it chucked in the lathe at work. It's too bad, I really liked it as a heat sink for welded parts. Thinking about getting a large plate for that reason.

Made some progress on the tire carrier. I welded up some flanges to make the carrier removable. I only had parts with a 2" ID and I'm using 1 3/4 tubing. I welded some 2" and will slide them onto the 1 3/4".

While I'm waiting for the next day to go to work, I started getting the spare tire mocked up to build the spare tire carrier. There should be enough space to go up to 40's once these tires are worn out.

Thanks, I'm glad I had those classes too. It definitely came in handy for the transfer case flange, I can use the adapter plate and transfer punch the hole for that flange.

The material for the new foot plate came in today. I'll have to wait until I go to work to get started turning it in the lathe. I ordered a piece of 6061 aluminum, 8 1/4 diameter by 3 1/4 length. It should be stronger than the old cast plate.

I cut the jaws apart from each other after being worked on as one piece and drilled a hole in the moving jaw for the lead screw. Once all the pieces had been machined, I started welding everything together. The nut was plug welded into the main body.

I had started a fixture to be used for notching tubing with my rotary table and mill. I finished it by drilling and taping 2 holes. I needed to use it as a V block to make another fixture for cutting the knurl in the jaws.

I made a nut for the lead screw and tapped it with a 5/8-8 acme tap. I welded a 15/16th nut onto the end of the lead screw to give the ability of using a crescent wrench in a trail bag. I put the nut inside the channel inside a piece of. 180 wall 2" square tubing to check for fitment.

I used a piece of .250 wall 1.5" square tubing for the sliding portion and milled it into a channel.
