Anybody ever hear of checking if a engine has been overheated by checking the temper on the compression ring?

If a 3.8 in a 08 JK gets hot enough to do engine damage will it set a code?

I dropped my JK of at the dealer last monday to get the Trans issue fixed and have them address the oil burning problem, they just started on it today... Ugh...

So my 08 has now been in the hands of the dealer for 4 days for the massive oil consumption issue, now the mechanic working on it is saying it needs a new short block, chrysler is insisting the heads get sent out an checked, are there any chronic issues with the 3.8 heads that I haven't heard of?

Well the dealer has my jeep trying to figure out what to do with my engine, the rental they provided is a Chrysler 300, everyone says I'm nuts but I prefer my jeep..

Recently added a safari top to my 08 2dr, I first went with the smittybilt extended top due to the price.. It took less than a week to exchange it for the best top safari, they look almost identical but what a difference in fit..so if anyone is wanting to go that route, best top is the way to go...
