Learning to Weld-- Tips for Beginners on Welding and Gear

If you go to a welding supply retailer, you can buy welding jackets made of either nomex or leather to protect against wires sticking in your skin. The biggest thing is eye protection! Let me repeat that: The most important part of grinding and welding is eye protection!!

Learning to Weld-- Tips for Beginners on Welding and Gear

If you get flash, I've heard cucumber slices on the eyes, or cold, wet tea bags. But really, a good set of safety glasses (ANSI rated) protects the best and blocks 75% of the UV rays. And those electric arc UV rays are stronger than the UV rays from the sun. At the end of the day, if you don't...

Learning to Weld-- Tips for Beginners on Welding and Gear

The best for the buck are probably Speedglas, and Miller infinity or Miller Titanium. Figure anywhere from $275-$350. The Miller Titanium is a split shell hood that allows the hood to be opened sort of like a clam shell and has a 4X4.5" clear glass to grind with. Both of the above also have a...

So, I test drove a JKU today...

The blonde in my life keeps offering a new Jeep JKUR for me, because she hates the TJ (I think the rough ride and loud noises build character... some women are weird, but she's awesome for even thinking about offering me a new Jeep!). I test drove a JKU Sport S a couple of weeks ago. I liked...

So, my 19 year old daughter...

... wants an old Cherokee as her next car. Proud papa here. I didn't even push her to want one. She says she loves the boxy look to them, wants 4x4 capability,to get around during the winter, to get to the college she's attending, and going down the shore or up to the Poconos. We're doing...

    TJ Coilovers

So, I came across an old thread that discussed coiloverson TJs. Eddie pointed out that it could be tough to get Coilovers right on a TJ, but I'm curious if anyone has done it and had successes or failures installing them. On road drivability and comfort seem to be pluses forcoilovers, while also...

    Aluminum Vs. steel bumpers

So, I was looking through GenRight Offroad's offerings for coil overs for my TJ (I'm still researching whether or not they'll be worth the money over a long arm system), and sort of skipped over the aluminum bumpers for the steel ones. I work with metal, and generally understand the advantages...

    CALAMITY JANE - Cleaning Up

You're making me wish I didn't lose the pictures of my CJ5 when I split with my ex-wife. Oh well... On to better things and better memories! Calamity is going to be badass.

    CALAMITY JANE : 1974 Jeep CJ5 Renegade

Outstanding find! The first jeep I bought was a 1978 CJ5 with a 3 speed manual and 304V8. I know there are some differences, but I loved mine. I should have gotten rid of the ex wife sooner and kept the Jeep.

Poison Spyder 2DR Frame mounted Rocker Knocker Question.

From everything I've read on this forum, you should expect poor fit quality from PS. And notice on their stock photo, the brackets on the left aren't in the same position. I mean, can you believe that their sales photos are showing an eff up?!? Someone break out the women's tape measure with...

    Has anyone bought from...

Thanks. My kid's college is digging into my Jeep build budget, but I don't want to go cheap on parts. Of course, getting value worth the money is important.

    Has anyone bought from...

... Chassis Unlimited? Their ads popped up on Facebook, and I've clicked the links a couple of times. I was just hoping to hear if their steering equipment is good for lifted Jeeps (TJs), or not. I know Eddie had told me that Currie was good for their system would be a good investment, too.
