In The Shop - Disciple Off Road

Update: The dealer will be replacing it under warranty! Unbelievable. I’m sitting at 147k miles with 3k miles to go on the warranty. Appreciate the members here sharing all the good info otherwise I would be paying for this or trying to g to replace it myself. Cheers!

3.6L Oil Filter/Cooler Adaptor Housing Replacement

Remarkable job OP on the write up. Just discovered mine started leaking today, on a 2012 JK. I’ve done most of this work 5 years ago when my oil sensor failed. Darn thing was only $60 if I remember. The dealer wants $1200 for the job but I want half doors so the job falls to me once again...

Smoking Meat -- Tips, Opinions, Recipes

Did my first pork shoulder the other day. I used mustard as a binder and a coffee rub from Hawaii plus salt. Unbelievable flavor. Making another next Monday since this thing fed two of us for days.

2025 NEW YEAR's KICK OFF RUN

I'm only a long days drive away. I really need to join one year; if even to escape the gloomy overcast weather up here :) Have a blast this weekend!!!!

Hmm. I hadn't thought about doing it myself. Good to know. Thanks Disciple! I logged in to Mopar and found the extended warranty notice under my VIN. Although I'm not experiencing airbag light issues, I'm hopeful the dealership will replace for free since it's broke. 🤞 If not, I'll purchase...

This forum is awesome! I've had my JK for 10 years and I don't get recall notifications either! Good to know about the clockspring too. I suspect mine is bad. My horn doesn't work and some of the controls on the steering wheel don't work either.

    12' Gecko Build

I ran the Nitto Trail Grapplers about 10 years back. I loved them and hated them. The tire compound at the time wasn't to my liking, much too hard. At least that's what I deducted. Perhaps i got the wrong load rating for my Jeep? I didn't know much about tires then, still don't but I know there...

My engine skid was rubbing on the PR44 but only when flexing out fully. I decided to stick with EVO and get their full skid package since it's minimalistic, tough, makes changing the oil easier than a pan type skid, and it looks cool too! I didn't take photos of this project at the time, mainly...

Off-roading in the PNW can be challenging at times. We get a lot of rain and you just have to deal with it, along with the steep climbs, trees which have big roots that, when wet, you loose traction so quickly you slam into a tree. Not that that's ever happened to me though :) I think trees are...

I was getting tired of disconnecting my front sway bar links. Having a new PR44 up front deserves to have a better setup. So I kept my eyes peeled for a used Rubicon sway bar disconnect. I found one in no time and installed it with an EVO No Limits. Why did I wait so long to do this? What a...

My new tie rod and steering damper hadn't arrived and so I put the originals back in for the time being. The tie rod was seized so no adjustments could be made, which were going to be necessary to get it all aligned, but it worked for a week :)

In goes the Dynatrac. I can't quantify the peace of mind this will give me moving forward. Unbelievable how beefy and strong this thing is.

At this point, I'm still on the factory rear driveshaft and Dana 30 up front! My biggest weakness as I see it so far. I'm a commercial HVAC tech by trade, although I don't run a service truck anymore thankfully, and I never want to be the guy broken on the trail if I can help it. I have patience...

Those ledges in MOAB can be tough on a factory plastic bumper and 35's. That's the only damage we took and so it was high time to begin more upgrades when we returned home. Rear bumper was next.

    The building of "El Toro"

My wife and I spent the next few years recovering from the upgrades/repairs on the wallet and just wheeled as often as we could. In the PNW, our window for getting in the mountains close to home is quite narrow with most trails not opening until Labor Day weekend. Some still have snow on them...

Seats were upgraded to Corbeau suspension seats with heaters! New 1310 front drive shaft and rear 1350 upgrades. My radio took a dive and I wasn't able to receive calls while driving so we opted to go with the MEGA big Stinger. It's obnoxious but it works.

A Poison Spyder front bumper and Come Up winch went on just before the Rubicon as well.

Unfortunately, I ended up with the dreaded engine 'ticking' during the Rubicon that turned out to be a rocker arm failing. So the top end of the engine got some major work with all new cam shafts, rockers, etc. when we returned. And there went my PR44 savings. Dang, I was almost there :)
