winter items you keep in your jeep?

When I was in the mountains in Colorado I carried (in addition to what you have listed) sterno, a little cooking stove, a space blanket, extra socks, enough food in cans/dried for 4 days, lots and lots (6 gallons) of water, a butane (cheap) lighter, two of those Duraflame logs, extra pair of...

    Independent suspension V.S. solid axles

Not to be picky, and I'm probably wrong, but articulation is not a term normally associated with IFS/IRS. If the two sides are joined by a flexible joint (as in an independent suspension setup) they really don't articulate like a solid axle.

    Explain Transfer Case to me?

With the Rubi you can actually start the Jeep while in 4-low in first without the clutch, I don't think you can do that with the other transfer case. I don't think I've ever slipped the clutch in the rocks, only used it for shifting as sometimes reeaallll slooooow is too slow. Best bet is to...

    Explain Transfer Case to me?

You have to look at overall gear ratio which is the combination of selected transmission gear, transfer case gear ratio, differential ratio and tire diameter. Usually people go to a higher differential reduction (say from 3.21 to 4.88 ) to make up for putting larger tires on which keeps the...

Prepatory Upgrades to ensure Jeep can handle 120+ temperatures

I don't know about the 3.6, but when I used to get into the Mojave and up into Death Valley in the summer I never had a problem with the 3.8. Never saw temps go above the middle of the gauge though my fan ran constantly. The AC does have a hard time keeping up when it gets above 115° though...

Why should I get a CB?

If you go on a run with a group there's a good chance they will require you to have one. You can get a handheld 40 channel and not have to mount it. Can run off batteries or 12 volt adapter.

    Impact wrench

The M18 Milwaukee stuff is what everyone here uses too. Pretty good, no failures that I've seen, the 1/2 and 3/8 get the job done. I'm looking at their drills now. Nice to be able to borrow and lend and have your own batts and chargers

    Non-jeep dream builds

One of these (but a '71) a Demon with a 340 or 360 and a 4-speed. I would convert it to a modern suspension and braked beast. * this pic is a 72, the 71 had the two piece grill I like better

Can You Really Call the Fiat Panda 'Badass'?

Looks like between 6 and maybe being generous 7 inches of clearance to the skids, probably 5 or so to the low points. I was looking for the crane that set it down on the rocks there :o

    CB antenna

The wavelength of a 27MHz wave is 36 feet (36' 5"). 18' is a half wavelength and why it is a good length. You really want even splits with 1 wavelength best, then halves then quarters. If you have to go down from there 6' is probably as good as 4-1/2, but I would stick to the half and quarter...

    Locker types: what's the difference?

They use the Dana 60 on 1-ton vehicles, the 80 comes on the heavier duty like the dodge 3500 (though they did put it on the diesel and the v-10 2500 trucks i think) and the Ford f-350/450 I don't know what they call them though (not sure what are 1-ton axles and what heavier duty axles would...

    Different aftermarket Locker question

I have a different question about lockers on a JK. When you put an aftermarket locker on, how do you deal with the acronym ninnies (ESP, ABS etc) when the lockers are engaged? I know in mine they get turned off and toned down when the lockers and 4-lo are selected.
