Unless you are relocating it to a different vehicle, 18' should reach just about anywhere you need. Like you said, just retune when you move it, and make sure at least 1/3 of it's length is above the roofline, more critical on a hard top for sure.

This took me longer than it should have...

A lift chair with a roll top basically. You put the bar down, and if you want you pull the bubble over that. This is a picture of their 6 seat heated one, which was closed. The one we used was a non heated quad. But really works well.

The recent cold snap here in New England made me think of one a few years back where our bird bath gave us an excellent example of nature's wonders. There was only water in this bath, nothing more. I have no idea how this formed, but it looks for all the world like a mini ice sculpture swan.
