The Maintaining and Building of Jan the WJ

Maintenance Jan still has some rattles going down the road (it's not clearance with the control arms like I thought.), so I thought I would do some maintenance on the front axle. I did all of her ball joints and unit bearing assemblies on Friday: I was kind of hoping it would make...

    My 65 Gladiator

Awesome truck! The right hand drive manual trans would take some getting used to, but I like it.

    The Butters JK Build

Took Butters out for some cold weather camping last weekend. Nice quiet day in the woods. I woke up to everything covered in a layer of ice from the freezing rain overnight. Glad the new winter gear was warm enough!

The Maintaining and Building of Jan the WJ

Here's the finished bushings and the new adjustable arms to boot: The vibrations are gone, but now there's a new rattle (at all speeds) that I think may be a clearance issue with the beefier arms. It's at least off the jack stands, which is an improvement from last week!

The Maintaining and Building of Jan the WJ

I Hate Bushings. I've been feeling some drive line vibrations lately while accelerating at 35-45 mph. So a couple of weeks ago I took a peek at my front drive shaft and control arms and saw that the bushings were a little worse for wear: Two weeks later and now I'm about finished... I hate...

What is this and how should I stop it from leaking?: This is looking up behind the radiator. Oil cooler? I was changing the spark plugs and noticed the line was loose running up the backside of the radiator, so I zip tied it back to the broken clamps. Then noticed the fitting on the bottom...

    The Butters JK Build

The brakes have been sounding pretty angry since the muddy SMORR run this past weekend. Finally got around to deep cleaning them today. When I pulled the caliper off all this gunk fell out including that little rock (caliper bolt for scale). I'm guessing he's been the one that sounded like a...

    Drag link flip

I installed the Synergy drag link flipped recently and like it so far. I had a titanium step up bit that maxed out at 7/8 which worked perfectly for drilling the knuckle. No flopping with the new one. I definitely need to add more bump stop though; I only have 2" (with 3.25" of lift) and at full...

    The Butters JK Build

I think it was time to replace.... And I got a tonneau cover because I'm tired of cleaning remnants of trees out of the back after hitting the trail.

    The Butters JK Build

I looked at it from underneath and it's definitely hitting the bracket: So moving the stabilizer won't help. Thanks for the suggestion!

    The Butters JK Build

I need some advice; I noticed at SMORR that my turning radius seemed like it might be a little less going to the left verses the right. I looked at the front end a little closer this afternoon and saw this: You can see where the drag link is hitting the stabilizer. It hits about 3/4 of an...
