    53 M38A1 - Finished (I think - maybe)

Well, after 4 years of modifying, trial and error, "Why didn't you this?", and education - so I could answer "Why didn't you do this?" I think I am at the end of major modifications. I will not rule out changes to creature comforts. The latest changes were: engine - out with the 350, in...

Hidden Falls Run with Infidel Jeepers of Texas

We spent a couple days in Marble Falls earlier this month. Blue Bonnet Cafe for breakfast - there was a line, but definitely worth the wait. Then Hidden Falls for some trail rides - what a great place. I stayed out of the mud, but the drive thru the creek was a lot of fun. Looking forward to...

Hot Rods & Old Classics - Lets See Em...

'34' Ford I've got a '34' Ford roadster - all original car, that spent the last 30 plus years sitting in a warehouse. It is in the process of getting back on the road. It was disassembled all the way to the frame, cleaned, repairs were made as necessary, and it is the process of reassembly...

What was done to your rig this week?

It wasn't done this week, it was done the week before EJS: Replaced the rear leaf springs with a 4-link - coil-over setup. Work was done by Phil at Liberty Mtn Fab. Trailing arms, coils, Radflo by-pass shocks, new fuel tank with torsion bar running through the tank. Worked great. There is a...

    Stickies

I decided to try Maxxis "Sticky" Treps, so we put a set on for this year's EJS in Moab. All I can say is - wow. Those things stick like glue. Once you get them up to temp - you feel like Spider-man. Of course, they stick to the highway and garage floor as well. I was going to leave them on...

    Show Off Your Guns!

Don't really know what that rule is supposed to accomplish, other than track who's buying what and how much. I shoot some calibers which are not typically carried and/or custom loaded - so I have it shipped to the local FFL. I see it as just another move to make it more difficult for those of...

    Flip-1953 M38A1

You are welcome. Good luck with the rebuild. I have original tech manuals: TM 9-8014, and TM 9-8015-2 from 1954/55. 8014 is the Operational and Organizational Maintenance Manual, 8015 is Power Train, Body and Frame. Both for the M38A1. Don't know if you have them, or are familiar with them...

Nice find, congratulations. My dad bought my A1 after the previous owners' son rolled it trying to cross a creek on his ranch. He took out the left front fender, cowl, windshield, and steering wheel and column. We got out the torches, jacks, and BFHs' and beat it back into shape and rattle...

    Maxxis treps vs creepy crawlers

I am currently running 37" Treps on Hutchinson bead locks. I air down to 8 psi for crawling on hard rock. At Rubicon, Fordyce, and Moab - I experience the same problem - sliding on off-camber sections. I am considering going to creepy crawlers. Has anyone had this same problem? What did you...

Towing a Jeep Wrangler with a motorhome

Very nice set-up. I just did the EJS in Moab, trailered my jeep behind my F250 6.7. I have a Featherlite 18' 3110 flatbed trailer. No problems going up and over the Sierras, and was able to run 75-80 through NV and UT. Stayed in a motel, but spent quite a bit of time in the evenings outside...

    Wines of the Week

Had a birthday a couple days ago and decided to dig into the cellar and try a 1984 Beaulieu Cabernet. It lost some color and a little of the fuit - but after about 30 minutes it opened up and was very drinkable. We passed the time with the Krug.
