    Airing Down Devices

I have a set of auto-deflators, but they don't always hit the preset value. There are quite a few devices available, both auto and manual - which one would be the best? Thank you

Five reasons why internal combustion engines are here to stay

I couldn't agree more. The only thing better than sitting behind 1, was sitting between 2.

What was done to your rig this week?

Took the jeep for a test drive today; seems to breathe a little easier with the bigger headers, and the Borla mufflers improved the sound. The other goal of the new headers was to decrease the heat radiating through the firewall and floor boards - and stop melting the soles of my wife's shoes...

What was done to your rig this week?

Got the headers back from the Cerakote shop, and the guys installed Wilwood electric E brakes. I had one of those Estop brake systems which worked great until the long-arm suspension. The cables had to be so long there was too much slack for the Estop tensioner to pull enough to set the...

    Cool non-jeep vehicles you've seen

Cool Vettes A young man pulled into the service station with this beauty just as I was leaving. Said it belonged to his mom. Picked this up a couple months ago, for a friend - 63 Split Window

    Pickup for towing

2020 F350 Limited Traded my 2017 F250 for a 2020 F350. I decided on the Limited because, I found myself becoming increasingly frustrated at dealership sales staff's lack of knowledge regarding option packages, their repeated attempts to sell me a vehicle on their lot rather than listen to what...

Let’s see those Tools and Tool Boxes!!

offset extentions Here's a pair of 3/8 off-set extensions I picked up back in the 70's. No manufacturer's marks, and I have never seen anymore like them. They have proven to be quite handy in tight spots.

    What's in your humidor?

A nice afternoon at the club with a Partagas Serie D No 4, some Grahams port, and a nice fire.

Let’s see those Tools and Tool Boxes!!

I remember them well. Using them was like playing oil roulette - your options were: punch through the cardboard, it would fall out of the can when you went to pour because it wasn't locked in, or - by some miracle - it actually worked. I don't have pictures, but do you remember the old school...

What was done to your rig this week?

As the saying goes, "Ain't that the truth". It's been a long process, lots of mods and improvements (checks) - due mostly to my ignorance of what options and components were available, and my lack of experience and knowledge in the sport. But I had the good fortune to meet some very...

What was done to your rig this week?

New headers The old headers were 1 1/2" tube and too close to the firewall and floor. When we swapped the 350 for the 383 - the heat melted a pair of my wife's shoes. I was told to "Fix It". So - Fixed!

What did you name your Jeep?

What did you name your jeep I named my 1953 M38A1 "Bandoola", after the elephant featured in the books, "Elephant Bill" and "Bandoola". True stories of the exploits of elephants in Burma just prior to WWII. Great reads if you are a fan of elephants.

    The Winch Thread

On my Jeep: 1. Upgraded 8274 - bigger motor, new gears 2. only pros - its powerful and its fast 3. synthetic line 4. yes - mostly to pull other vehicles; however in the last couple of weeks I've had to winch myself on some fire trials and I recently had to pull myself back onto a trail after I...

Winch Line - which is best/strongest

BTW - Just thought of this bit of info: Both times the line broke, it dropped straight to the ground. This was my first experience with a failure of a winch line.

Winch Line - which is best/strongest

Thanks, it's getting there. Seems the more I use it the more I find to alter or fix. Working out storage issues - the biggest question is what do I really need to carry? Then, where do I put it? We're going to re-do the headers this winter - larger diameter tubes and more clearance from the...

Winch Line - which is best/strongest

Yeah - it was a hard way to learn a lesson, but I'm thankful I had a safety chain back to the dozer and glad I was winching myself and not someone else. We've pulled the fairlead and cleared and smoothed the opening. Will do the same to my truck and equipment trailers too. Another one of...
