    Bandoola - Moab Roll-over

Thanks. We joked during the build about how much that thing was like a tank - it sure paid off. I'm going to start a new thread on the build, mods, and repair.

    Bandoola - Moab Roll-over

To be honest, this post is the first time I really took a close hard look at the stills. I did watch the video a few times and since I wasn't hurt and the jeep only received a few dents, I moved on. But studying them now, especially the first one where I'm above the drop and still on all 4...

    Bandoola - Moab Roll-over

Thanks. Yeah - studying it in that first frame, it appears to be as deep as my jeep is long. That's the point where the brakes failed The front tires went on either side of that big white rock and down and over I went. Not saying I'd try it again, but if you're there - maybe.

    Bandoola - Moab Roll-over

Thanks. The guy in the FJ is a friend and part of a group which included the guy who preceded me down the obstacle and winched me upright. When he saw what happened to me - he took the bypass.

    Bandoola - Moab Roll-over

Looking at it as an isolated picture - it does me as well. But it was on it's way back inside in that frame.

    Bandoola - Moab Roll-over

Yep - that's my left arm, on the downward act of waving the spotter to get out of the way. I believe it says that in the original post. There's more room between my arm and the rocks then the picture shows. Since I stated my arm back inside before the jeep made contact and would prefer to ask...

    Bandoola - Moab Roll-over

Here's a picture of the jeep after it was righted. If you are in this picture, or were there - please add your name(s) to this post. I really appreciate all the help given, and concern expressed. You were/are a great bunch of guys.

    Bandoola - Moab Roll-over

Damage photos: Ok - close your eyes and imagine what damage might have occurred before you look at the actual photos. Overall view from the front. Roof rack - racked, windshield - left corner, hood and fender dented. There's a scuff on the slider. Left hood and fender, right rock slider -...

    Bandoola - Moab Roll-over

OK, here's the details and pictures of the roll-over on "High-Dive" this past April at Moab. I was on the trail "Behind The Rocks" with a group of very experienced drivers, extremely capable rigs, and an excellent spotter. This was my 3rd trip to Moab, and honestly I had avoided this trail in...

Magazine Articles - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good: "Hey, your jeep is kinda cool - has anyone done an article about it?" Those were the words of photo-journalist Mercedes Lilienthal, when we met at Moab this past April. The result of that meeting is a multi page article in this month's issue of "Tread". Complete with pictures, it...

    Trailer options

Note regarding bumper pull trailers: Towing on the highway or level(ish) service roads, I use a standard ball set up. Going off-road into a remote campsite - Sierra Trek would be a good example, I switch to a pintle set up - it allows more range for twisting and angle change between the...

    Trailer options

My jeep is 85" outside to outside at the fronts, the rears are a bit narrower. Finding a trailer to handle that width, especially in Calif, was a challenge. My first trailers were Featherlite auto haulers; nice trailers - light weight, well built, and they track perfectly. They required the...

    What's in your humidor?

I have to admit - they are good guys. That arrangement reminded me of what we used to do for my father. When he turned 80, we added cigars to the family Easter egg hunt. The kids were instructed not to touch them, and the cigars were all within easy reach for my dad. He was given a basket...
