    Oscar's No Build Thread

I love it when a plan comes together! I purposely choose the Midland Micro MXT275 GMRS Radio due to it’s compact size and controls integrated into the mic. The intent was to hide the base unit somewhere so I wouldn’t have to worry about it getting stolen. I often leave the top down and doors at...

2011 KK (Liberty) CEL - Need Advice

Thread revival here. Another year and the same issue is back with our Liberty - misfire cylinder #2. Last winter I messed around with performing a vacuum test and a couple other minor things. The Jeep didn’t give me much trouble and due to COVID, my wife has been working from home since...

The build of my flag ship Black Pearl

Sorry, yes, auto focus. Actually GoPro calls it Exposure Lock. Turn on the camera, touch and hold the back screen until a white box pops up called “Spot Meter”. Tap the box and it will lock the exposure and say as much. Then touch the checkmark. I find this helpful when driving through light...

    Wheels

I think those wheels are 7 1/2” wide. As for the biggest tire? Depends on a bunch of variables: Tire manufacturers - They all have charts posted on-line as to the specifics including minimum rim width for each model and size. Lift - 3.5” should accommodate 35’s easy Spacers - You will need...

Random (non-Jeep) Shit You’re Working On....

Starting to agree with you. What a pain! Thats a cool tool! I didn’t realize that they were that cheap. I actually didn’t have to remove that many nails. My bar and BFH was just cutting right through them. Wife has happy as she tested out the finish: Then I got a start on the install...

    Leaking axle seals again

I’ve also used these speedy sleeves in industrial applications. I don’t know if anyone else has tried them for this application. I’m not saying it would be my first choice, but I’ll throw it out there. https://www.skf.com/us/products/industrial-seals/power-transmission-seals/wear-sleeves SKF...

    Leaking axle seals again

My best guess based on a $90hr rate (which is the rate of the plater I use in Milwaukee): 45min pre-grind $67.50 Chrome (mask & plate) $75 1hr finish grind $90 Total = $242.50ea For comparison, the rate of my machine shop is $180/$250hr depending on the process which is typical in the industry...

    Leaking axle seals again

I agreed on the welding, it will distort the shaft in most cases. Pre-heating the shaft prior to welding may help, but it’s risky. The shaft would only require minimal grinding so I don’t think the weak point will be an issue. I would grind the damaged area to .006” (inches) on the diameter or...
