Thanks. I’m enjoying it, and feeling crunched at the same time. We have a Sand Hollow trip in May. In the second picture it shows 2 in of clearance while flexed. The track bar mount was built for this amount of lift. I set the struts at track bar strike and axle level, feeling confident this...

We made a little more progress today. Committed on the lower strut brackets and welded them on with 1/4 of clearance when stuffed both sides. Loaded the suspension and it moved a great deal less than I thought, about a 1/16. So I cut them off and set the clearance to zero. This would be a...

Question to the people that have been exposed to welded on towers for coils or struts. How much flex is there between loaded and unloaded suspension? It’s time to commit by welding on the lower strut brackets. Thanks

My Jeep drives like crap after installing new lift kit

I too can attest that trucks are not Jeep suspension in many ways, but in the one way they’re similar, I think would help the O.P. I didn’t notice any ride quality difference in the angle change on the rear, just the front. But I am a believer it took care of the rear steer feel. I have the...

My Jeep drives like crap after installing new lift kit

I respectfully disagree, it’s what steers a skateboard. I have a friend that did an LS swap that couldn’t do WOT launches until he added the front drop brackets. My wife would also have a lot to say about the JK until it drove to her liking, which was flattening out the rear. Also, the more lift...

My Jeep drives like crap after installing new lift kit

The closer you have the control arms level to the ground the better it’ll handle. Obviously there is a trade off with low hanging parts. Your wheelbase changes as the suspension cycles with steep arms. If one side lowers, like in an aggressive lane change, the axles will move closer and farther...

Thank you. My last Jeep was a Wrangler, which I was very proud of. Had a lot of money and time in it. The mistake I made was not going to 60s the first time. Cry once

This setting is 5 1/2 inches of uptravel. Plenty of tire clearance on the LCA at 40 degrees of turn. In the full body picture you can see a laser line on both wheels showing the front axle is 3/4 lower than the rear, which is factory ride height.

If she wasn’t see so set against it, 42s would have fit.

In these shots you can see full stuff hard driver. The drag link does touch in this scenario, maybe because I mixed Apex with Yeti. At full flex these two will separate but I think the other style adjuster will be better. In the middle picture you can see where I used a flat head bolt in the...

There’s a small relief notch on the top of the cylinder bracket for the track bar. The cylinder is parallel to the tie rod.The tie rod and drag link are very friendly. I’m going to replace the adjuster with the Rock Jock style like the tie rod. Here’s the track bar clearance after I raised the...

Track bar bracket. Its slightly taller than the Dynatrac and weeded of the stabilizer hardware.

Axle end brackets. I have the struts pushed out to the knuckle weld is why it’s offset. This puts the strut at 14 degrees when bumped, which is the axle angle at full flex.

Powdered the towers semi gloss, then ground the weld areas. Also applied POR15 to all the bare metal. About 3/8 clearance on the passenger side.

Clamshell is done. I now have all three links welded and in place. Should be able to get some real measurements tomorrow. Backbone is 3/8, the side walls are 1/4.

Here’s the axle end which is also made of 1/4 plate. It needed a relief behind the cylinder for the track bar.

Finalized the PSC cylinder mounts. I’m not at all a fan of the cylinder landing in the middle of the tie rod so I anchored it to the TRE. I put a bolt through the cylinder mount and lined up the back edge then tacked it. I then drilled half way through with a bit one size smaller than 3/8 from...
