Baja Designs LED Lights

I was looking at getting a set of LED Lights for up on my windshield. From what I found, I really like the Baja Designs Squadron or XL series lights. Does anyone have any experience with the BAJA DESIGNS lights? Good or Bad? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Any other recommendations?

Thank You

I think that they are a good looking light. But in my opinion, they are pricey. I am not sure that I could personally justify the price, but if you can then by all means go for it. I haven't heard anything bad about them, nor have I seen them in person. So take that as you want

Squadron pro's here. So far I'm stoked! Yes maybe a bit pricey, but IMO lights are one of the things that you get what you pay for. Sure you can shop Amazon and probably save some dough but I'd rather run a name brand light and not have to worry. I believe they are a Southern California company (San Diego)

Thanks you guys for the reply. I just want to make smart purchases. Is there any other brands of LED Lights that you guys would recommend looking at?

I personally have the rigid cubes. You can't really go wrong. It just all depends on if you want to spend a little extra coin on some brand that will be more durable

I love my Squadron Pros. I was amazed at how much light they put out and like how you can customize the pattern. The first time I tried them it was like I flipped the switch on the sun!

If you go to your local craigslist, there is likely someone selling some LED cubes in the $30-$50 range. If you're on a budget, or you just want something you can slap on without worrying about theft, these are a great option.

I tried a set of $30 lights on my windshield as a moment's notice purchase cause I was going night wheeling that night and they actually worked out great. Plenty of light and very cheap ($30.)

I have since went crazy and bought the Rigid Dual windshield mount along with a pair of used D2's in HyperSpot that i bought from eBay, and D2's in the Driving pattern (craigslist.) There is a noticeable difference in light pattern, spread, and brightness. Is it worth the extra couple hundred bucks - Up to you to decide. I could have been fine, but I had the cash just dying to be spent and I know Rigid makes a quality product. With the knock off lights your milage will vary. My contact says "just let me know and ill replace them or if its more than a year down the road I'll just sell you a new one at cost."

Since my Jeep is not my daily driver and sits in the garage safe and sound all year, theft is not an issue for me. Seems like every week now Im hearing about LED's getting stolen off of someones vehicle. From their yard, to a stop at the grocery store - it happens. While I like the higher-end brands and see a value for their cost, theft would detour me from running them. If someone stole my $30 chinese knock-off lights, I wouldn't be so upset. Take a $1500 lightbar and I'd lose my damn mind.

The Baja design lights are a great product. I just don't care for the design.

Here's how she sits now. The mounts are easily removable, and I have them wired to 4-prong trailer connections underneath the cowl.

I have their S8 10" light bar and two windshield mounted Squadron Pros and two Squadron Pros as reverse lights and they are awesome. I had Chinese knockoffs prior and these completely blow them out of the water.

I'm running Lifetime LED's and they are holding up to the elements just great. No leaks yet and very bright. I put them on Poison Spyder brackets. https://www.lifetimeledlights.com/led_lights/led_cube_phantom_sun_3_led_cube_light

I've gone though Rigid (SR20) and Baja Designs (squadron), and they both leaked water. They're all made in China, so pick your marketing hype. The lifetimes are cheaper, look great with the black reflector, and haven't leaked yet in the cubes.

I like mine, though I just have the S2 pros for reverse lights. The best part about the Baja Designs that I have found, is that it is easy to replace individual components of the light.

Baja designs do have a lifetime warranty.

So do Lifetime's. https://www.lifetimeledlights.com/led_lights/warranty

Rigid stood up to their warranty too- I had to send back the SR20 twice, each time was a 3-4 week turnaround and it would still get condensation inside. To make matters worse, this light was on a garaged vehicle.

The baja leaked, so I took it apart to dry and silicone/RTV'd where the wire goes into the back- that stopped it. It kept working so I didn't send it back.

Wow. Bad luck with lights!

I read a review comparing a rigid and Baja designs led light bar and Baja designs put out more light. For what it's worth I think as long as the LEDs are made by Cree they are good quality.

This is an email I received from Baja Designs awhile back when trying to decide wether or not they were worth it.

We are finding a lot of enthusiasts mentioning “all LED products are the same or similar therefore you are only paying for the name.” While this is true for the majority of private labeled overseas companies this does not apply to Baja Designs. Our auxiliary lights contain 65% U.S content and our LED light bars contain 75% U.S content while all items are designed and assembled in San Marcos, Ca. Only a small percentage of components come from overseas manufactures such as stainless steel hardware. It is impossible to build an affordable light with 100% U.S content. With that being said, we try to keep as much as we possibly can in the United States.

All of our LED Lights use CREE LEDs ranging from 5watts up to 20watts. Many other lighting companies, especially those coming from overseas, are using counterfeit LEDs, lower chromaticity bins and lower luminous flux bins meaning the light will not be as bright. The majority of manufactures also do not design their products for maximum performance in mind. They will claim full wattage and lumen specs while only driving the light at 60%. I don’t know about you, but I would not want to purchase from a company who begins the transaction based upon false information.
Baja Designs’ selects all LEDs from the best bin possible, ensures they are 5000k color temperature compared to our competitors 6000k, strict chromaticity bin selections and are driven at 100%.

Another great thing that sets us apart from the competition is our uService technology. In a matter of 5 minutes you can easily change pattern or color all while maintaining your lifetime warranty. This allows you to fine tune the light setup based on your application and driving style. You are not stuck with the pattern or color you buy.

We understand this is a lot of information to digest. If you would like examples or extended explanations please let me know (bailey@bajadesigns.com) or (800)422-5292x114. Thanks and have a great day!
